Noticed a subadult atrox in ambush near patio furniture. Snake was fairly exposed. Utilized tongs to capture snake. Snake jumped alive and struck at tongs but otherwise was captured without incident. Performed inspection of backyard. Some areas where snakes could seek refuge. Several large Leucophyllum bushes. No other snakes found. Inspected fence line. Fence seemed in good shape and I didn’t really notice any compromised areas. The only place I saw where a small rattlesnake could possibly enter was the side gate. It seemed like it was in good shape. Customer stated that the gate did have maintenance done after fence install. There was a very thin gap between gate and jamb. I think if the snake would have entered through here it would have had to try really hard. I suspect snake may have entered when customer was taking out the garbage. Customer would like fencing team to come inspect the fence.
