Wickenburg | 85390 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a baby rattlesnake that she happened to see crawl into a hole on her property. The 5-acre property was located west of Wickenburg in a very flat and sandy area with a lot of Creosote scrub. There was a pond on the property surrounded by a small riparian area which included several large packrat nests. I arrived and was able to flush the snake out with a little bit of water from a hose. I searched the property for the mother and or siblings but did not find any. The temperature at the time of capture was in the mid 50's but the daytime highs were close to 80 degrees. |

Waddle | 85355 | Mojave Rattlesnake | A real estate company called from a new development and reported a small/baby Rattlesnake in the front entrance of the model home. The very kind agent felt comfortable enough to place a wire trash can over the small snake and place a rock over top before we could get out to them, she even took lengths to pour water on the sides for the snake during its wait for relocation. Once I had arrived I was directed to the shaded entrance where the snake was contained, and lifted the trash can to gently transfer the rattlesnake into the bucket for transport. I walked around the rest of the model home and inspected for further snakes with no others found. The community is full of new construction within an ideal desert habitat running along the White Tanks Preserve area. |

Waddell | 85355 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Arrived to customer’s home and was escorted to the back patio. Customer pointed out a small mini fridge that had not been used for some time and was unplugged. Customer said they saw snake the previous day and it was half sticking out from underneath fridge. The back of the fridge was facing towards me and there was 1/4” mesh attached to the lower back half presumably to keep critters out. After a few glances I noticed a large atrox in ambush in the corner of the fridge. Snake had perched itself on a bottom panel so it was not on the ground. So if I were to tip the fridge on its side, the snake would have tipped up with it. Used power drill to remove one side of the mesh. Since the snake was in a tight area where tongs would not have worked, I used the tongs to hold back the mesh while I used hook to retrieve and bucket the snake without incident. Customer stated they thought the snake they saw was bigger than the one I captured. Snake was docile and did not rattle. Did an inspection of backyard. Very big yard. At least an acre. Rural/agricultural area. Many areas in the yard where snakes can seek refuge or den. Woodpiles, garden areas, overgrown plants, trim piles, etc. Fencing would not be appropriate for yard. Provided customer with education on snake behavior and pointed areas I was most concerned with. |

Waddell | 85355 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake that was coiled up next to a potted plant just outside of a gate leading to the front yard. The snake had rattled at him as he was exiting to the driveway. The home is located very close to the desert with lots of great snake habitat. * The home already had snake fencing installed when the current owner moved in. He wanted someone to come out to the house and do an assessment of the current fence to see if it needs any maintenance. This snake was found outside of the current fencing. |
