Anthem | 85086 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about rattlesnake on front porch. Arrived to home and approached front door. Noticed family inside pointing to my right. Noticed a tall sign leaning against corner on the stucco and noticed a small adult atrox in defensive posture. Snake began rattling. Snake backed pretty well into corner. Used hook to bring snake out enough to capture it with tongs no issue. Talked with residents for a bit and provided education on snake behavior. Customer showed me picture of sizable gophersnake they took on the property a few weeks prior. Performed inspection of backyard. Large backyard but neat and well kept. Saw a few landscaping areas where snake could seek refuge and pointed them out. Area above the pool had saguaro with Caesalpinia and Ruella growing thick around it. Plenty of shade and moisture. Made a point to show this area to customer. Property has iron fence with 1/4” mesh maybe 24” high around. Several areas not secure. Asked customer if they’d be interested in a fencing quote and they agreed. Property surrounded by desert and across the road from Sonoran Preserve. I suspect snake came in from preserve and settled in the shade. No other snakes found during inspection. |

Anthem | 85086 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called after seeing a rattlesnake on his shady front porch. It had moved slightly into some nearby landscaping by the time I had arrived. The home is far from any development and surrounded by mountainous, native desert. It is a large property with a lot of structure and landscaping, but no irrigation system. There is no block wall bordering the home and very surprisingly, he told me that this is only the second snake he's seen since 2018. The temperature of the shaded porch was significantly cooler than the ground just beyond. I did not find any other snakes. |
