Buckeye 85396 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A rattlesnake was reported by the pool equipment. The pool service technician had seen it coiled there but left. I arrived and found one Western Diamondback in the same position the pool technician reported. The pool filtration system was leaking heavily, creating standing water where the snake was taking shelter. After securing the smaller snake, I inspected further and found a larger adult also sheltering beneath the filtration system. I captured the second snake and verified that no others were present. I informed the customer about the standing water issue attracting snakes and that additional snakes may visit the area. The customer is currently out of town.

Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner had this snake removed two days ago by the fire department, but it came back. The snake was coiled under a bush right in front of the front door. Just before I arrived, she saw a bunny go by the snake and the snake lunged and struck at it. Both the snake and bunny went flying, and when the bunny was running away it was limping. I saw the bunny and it had its leg lifted. We aren’t positive it was envenomated, but it seems likely. This was a large male Western Diamondback. Next to where the snake was, there was a large cactus with a huge packrat nest in it and several other holes. She also had water dishes out for the bunnies right there. The home had a large amount of desert directly across the street.

Casa Grande 85194 Mojave Rattlesnake The rattlesnake had been seen hanging out in the same shady corner against the building for a few days. With children around and a school nearby, they decided to have it relocated since it wasn’t leaving on its own. There wasn’t much around this building, but there was some vegetation with drip irrigation, which is likely what attracted the snake. The school is surrounded by a lot of desert and open agricultural land.

Phoenix 85042 Sonoran Gophersnake Homeowner called about a potential rattlesnake in her backyard that her dogs were barking at. Lost sight of the snake in the midst of the chaos, so I had to do a bit of searching. The yard was big and had lots of open space but also plenty of debris for snakes to hide in. My main focus was a tortoise burrow that was near where the snake was seen (they have a pet tortoise) so after checking the rest of the yard I started to flood the burrow. About 5 mins later a large Sonoran Gophersnake popped out. Confirmed with the lady that it was the snake she saw, she said it was rattling its tail and I explained to her that all snakes will do that when they feel threatened. Snake released into a deep cave in the side of a wash wall within its estimated home range. South Phoenix Homeowner called about a potential rattlesnake in her backyard that her dogs were barking at.
