Scottsdale | 85255 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake front courtyard. Arrived at property and was met by customer who escorted me to courtyard and showed me where she had last seen snake. Customer also stated they suspected there was a kingsnake living in a hole near foundation but opted to leave it. Noticed adult female atrox in boxwood bush. Area was shaded and had irrigation that was on. Captured snake using tongs with no issue. Snake did not rattle. Performed inspection of the front and back yards but no other snakes found. Provided customer education on snake behavior and pointed out areas they would take refuge. I suspect snake came from wash running behind home and this was the corner house. Snake went under the gate for courtyard where it found the shaded boxwood. Asked customer if she would like a free fencing quote and she agreed. |

8:00 PM |
Scottsdale | 85255 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about rattlesnake in backyard. Customer stated he did not know how it got in his yard. Greeted customer in his driveway and he escorted me to backyard. Customer stated that he lost sight of the snake when he saw it climb a vine against the back wall 20 minutes prior. Searched immediate area and vine but did not see snake. Briefly scanned wash behind wall but no visual of snake. Told customer I would check the rest of the backyard. As I approached another vine I observed a fairly large atrox in the vines approximately 6 feet from the ground. Used tongs to capture snake with no issue. Searched the rest of the backyard. Backyard was neat and well kept for the most part though a few landscaping plants could have been trimmed. Customer stated he would clear them. Entire yard was surrounded by tall back wall maybe 2.5 meters high. All drainage holes were tightly secured with 1/4” mesh. Both gates were not installed by RS but upon observation I do not believe a snake of this size would have been able to enter unless gate was open. Customer stated his landscapers had left the gate open earlier in the day. I suspect that’s when the snake entered. I was not able to get a visual on the vines behind the wall as the wash was very thick with mesquite and palo verde. I advised customer to make sure those vines did not run over the other side of wall. |

Scottsdale | 85255 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received call about rattlesnake in front yard. Arrived and customer escorted me to the area where he believed snake was. Customer stated this was the first snake they’ve seen. Snake was not there and began inspecting the front wall where I noticed a small atrox in a boxwood about a half meter off the ground. Utilized tongs to capture and bucket snake with no incident. Performed inspection of the rest of the property with no other snakes found. Home isn’t like any I’ve seen before in that it seems more like a compound. Front courtyard area is walled off with glass entry door. High stucco wall around property with a few drainage holes that were uncovered. I suspect snake was small enough to enter from underneath the front glass door/gate and that is where the snake was found. Offered customers free fencing quote and they agreed. |

Scottsdale | 85255 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about rattlesnake in backyard in the same area as a call I was already running. Arrived at customer’s home and he escorted me to the backyard. Customer stated he has seen several rattlesnakes in his front yard but never in the back. Customer also stated he believes the snake was the same he had noticed in the backyard on Wednesday evening. Backyard had iron fencing all around with no snake proofing at all. Yard surrounded by habitat so snake could have entered from anywhere. Noticed a very gravid female atrox sprawled out on astroturf. Snake was notable docile and would let me get near it without taking defensive posture. Utilized tongs and hook to safely transfer snake into bucket. Performed an inspection of rest of backyard with no other snakes found. Backyard was neat and tidy for the most part with a few overgrown landscaping plants that I advised could be trimmed. Offered customers a free quote from fence team and they agreed. |
