7:00 PM		 Avondale 85339 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner in Laveen called about a rattlesnake in her garage. When I arrived, the snake was nowhere to be found. Began moving stuff around and was able to locate the snake underneath an old bed frame. The young Western Diamondback was a long way from home as this area is mostly developed at this point and has very little survivable habitat. I took the snake a few miles away and found a nice little cave in the side of a small drainage where it should have a much better chance of surviving.

This community is not very old and has reservation land surrounding it. The yard was cleared out with no vegetation so the trash cans were the only shade source.

They has attempted to get the snake to move along by spraying water at it but all the snake did was climb up a bush and take cover. Home is next to some farmland but not much habitat left in this area for rattlesnakes due to new housing developments so its probably good I got him because his days were likely numbered in the area.

10:30 AM		 Avondale 85339 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The owner of a home in Laveen called after her pest control service alerted her to a baby rattlesnake coiled up in the shade near her front door. This home backs up to a large wash and the Gila River Reservation. I searched the rest of the yard, which was completely void of any cover at all. It was clean with some artificial turf and zero landscaping. Needless to say, there were no other snakes found.

It was still in the living room just hanging out up against the wall by the tv stand. It seemed like the juvenile coachwhip snuck in while the door was open. The home has a good piece of desert across the street.

The snake was seen the night prior after the homeowners cat brought in a dying baby rabbit, which was presumably bitten by the snake. The homeowner checked again this morning and the snake was still pancaked by the front door under an overgrown bush. No other snakes were recovered during the inspection.

Today, she had another smaller western diamondback visitor in the rear yard. This guy had just eaten a small rat and made his way around the yard, likely looking for a new escape route. I was able to gently remove him and get him to a better locale. The client would like the fencing team to come out as soon as possible and protect her rear yard.

11:30 AM		 Goodyear 85338 Ball Python We were called after a man cleaning out his storage unit at a storage facility in Goodyear found a large snake coiled up near some boxes. He was quite startled as the snake did not belong to him. After securing the snake, I tried to figure out how the snake got in. It had been about 6 months since the last time the tenant had been in the unit. There were no gaps at the floor level or around the door. There was however an open area about 3 feet from the ceiling all the way around the unit. This area was open to all adjacent units. If the snake had been left in a neighboring unit either by mistake or intentionally, and if the unit had items stacked high enough for the snake to climb up, it's possible that it came up and over the wall. The individual working at the facility was not able to pay with credit and will have to be billed by invoice.

The rattlesnake was, in fact, a Sonoran gopher snake... after consideration, the customer wanted the go for snake relocated to protect the wildlife bunnies.

6:00 PM		 El Mirage 85335 Nightsnake The homeowner called us after spotting the tail end of a Nightsnake sticking out from under the garage door. They were not sure if it was dead and they did not want to check. When I arrived, I had her open the garage door and found that the head of the snake was stuck in a glue trap just inside of the door. I used a little vegetable oil and gently removed the snake from the trap. I searched the rest of the garage and did not find any additional snakes. This home was in El Mirage and not near any sort of healthy native habitat.

Her yard doesn’t have much for vegetation but she backs up to south mountain and has a view fence.
