The home had a South Mountain Preserve across the street. |
| 2024-12-17 2:30 PM | Phoenix | 85050 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner was getting a package when the delivery driver spotted the baby rattlesnake coiled up by the front door. The courtyard had bricks for flooring and some up against the house weren’t sealed that well. The snake could have potentially been hibernating there, or their garage just around the corner had big gaps in the corners. Across the street they had a drainage area that had a bunch of stacked rocks which also would have provided a nice warm spot for winter. Hard to say for sure where it had been it was very small still. |

| 2025-09-12 7:30 PM | Phoenix | 85045 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | Snake was found by homeowner in their driveway when they went outside. By the time I had arrived it had made it's way into a wash directly next to the homeowners house and they had lost sight of it. | 2025-09-14 11:30 PM | Phoenix | 85050 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake on a back patio. Customer’s daughter greeted me at the front door and escorted me to the back patio. Met with homeowner out there and she pointed to a futon against the side of a wall underneath patio. I observed an atrox in ambush between a small ceramic statue of a tortoise and a small one of a toad. I pulled the futon from against the wall and utilized tongs in attempt to capture. Snake turned out to be much bigger than I had thought and it quickly became defensive. It wedged itself between the statues and the eave of the stucco and it struck at my tongs several times. I eventually was able to capture and bucket it. Provided an inspection on back yard. Yard area sloped up towards the back wall. A fair bit of landscape plants but nothing really overgrown. Brick wall all the way around with only two entry points in the yard. Drainage hole on the NW side yard and a gate on the SE side yard. Gate would definitely have been easier for snake to get into and I suspect it came from here. Customer stated she has had a few snakes in the 11 years she has lived in the home but all were non-venomous and this was her first rattlesnake. This house would not have been on the top of my list for an atrox encounter. Immediate area has been fairly developed for some time. The closest habitat was a wash that cut through the neighborhood that connected wide open desert on either side of the neighborhood. The closest access point to the wash was about 3 blocks to the NW and the second nearest being another wash maybe 4-5 blocks to SE. I wasn’t able to get a definitive answer from customer about fence quote but it appears she checked the box for it. |
| 2025-09-14 5:30 PM | Phoenix | 85048 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | Homeowner called about a snake in her front courtyard, she was fairly certain that it was a rattlesnake. When I arrived, I discovered the speckled rattlesnake curled up beneath a large flower pot near her front entryway. There was a lot of shade and a large wash beside the house, so the snake was likely on the move this morning and found a place to stay out of the heat during the day. Snake released into a small cave in the side of a wash within home range and away from homes. |
