9:00 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called with potentially more than one rattlesnake in their backyard. Their dog had alerted them to at least one snake last night, and she saw one this morning in a different location. Upon arrival, the rattlesnake was curled up next to the gutter and hose on the side of the house, and I was able to secure it quickly. After a quick survey of the backyard, I determined that there were no additional rattlesnakes. The western diamondback was relocated into a huge rocky den in the nearby habitat.

The snake went on the defensive at once and tried to retreat as I gently grabbed him and set him in the bucket. Released south of the property into a packrat nest beside a wash.

The snake was hanging out in the homes courtyard before retreating to a bush just outside of the gate. The home is in a neighborhood nearby a new park project where the snake was likely living. The gates allowed easy access to the courtyard as they were vertical railed metal with a wide gap underneath. Easy capture and release into a nearby packrat nest.

9:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called with a rattlesnake moving across the front yard, and then eventually it curled up in between two rocks next to a big cactus in the front yard. They were kind enough to get some chairs and sit up front and watch it while I drove there. I was able to quickly secure the snake and relocate it into a pack rat nest in a nearby heavily vegetated wash.

7:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Repeat customer had seen a very small western diamondback in her front yard. She had hoped it would leave but called us after 45 minutes. In the 8 minutes it took me to get there she lost sight of it. Took a little bit but I found it near where she had last seen it curled up. The home is open to the surrounding desert and she has had multiple interactions in the past.

The little baby rattlesnake had a big bolus. It couldn’t coil up so it was just laying out straight next to a shrub in the shade. This Home’s yard was very well kept not a lot of heavy vegetation. There was some desert around throughout the homes, but nothing really large. The only close desert was blocked off getting ready to be built up. I took it a little bit further but a lot better desert.

3:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner lives on a beautiful property with a chain-link fence all around and a natural desert area behind the house. He has an abundance of garter snakes, coyotes, javelina, and other desert friends, but this is only his second rattlesnake since 1998. Unfortunately, the snake was in some bushes and spiky tree foliage when I first attempted to obtain it. It quickly jumped up and successfully put itself into a large packrat nest. I found plenty of spiders and a fat packrat before we found our snake friend. It felt ironic to be pulling apart a packrat nest instead of putting a snake safely into one. A western diamondback was found, safely placed in a bucket, and relocated to natural desert away from the community.

By the time I arrived neither of the snakes were where the homeowner saw them. I found 1 by the back left corner of the property and another underneath a bush tucked next to a rock wall where the snake had lodged itself in. The first snake was an easy grab but the second required some hose work. Relocated together into a nearby rodent The homeowner called after seeing two rattlesnakes in his yard. 10:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Dispatched a call regarding a snake in back yard next to hot tub under tree. When I contacted the customer they stated they believe they may have 2 snakes. Arrived at home and was escorted into the backyard by customer. They kept an eye on the snakes and pointed out where they were. I noticed two atrox situated against a stucco pillar of the patio cover. There was a VERY large male that was situated on the north side of the pillar and a female situated in the west side. Upon closer inspection I noticed the two were locked together mating. I utilized gentle tongs to first capture the male and when they did not unlock I used a hook to help support the female as I got the two into the bucket. Snakes were both fairly mellow given the situation. The male was large. Very large. It was definitely the biggest atrox I’ve captured while working for RS. Inspected the rest of the yard and no other snakes found. Yard is kept neat and landscaping plants are trimmed well enough for the most part. View fence bordered the yard on the south where there is a desert wash. Customers installed 1/2” mesh along the fence. I don’t believe the snakes came from here but rather the side gate on the west side of the home as this it was adjacent to the access point for the wash. Customers indicated interest in fencing. Given the snakes remained locked in mating I decided to keep them in the bucket and wait until morning to release them.

4:30 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner called about a western diamondback rattlesnake in her backyard. The snake was found by their dog, but the dog was not bitten. Somewhat tough area to relocate, lots of new development and very little desert left. Did find a nice patch of desert that looks to be free of development for the time being and released snake into a very large Packrat nest that was under a Mesquite tree. Cave Creek.

9:30 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake I arrived at the maintenance yard about 50 minutes from the time the call came in. The landscapers that saw the snake were no longer present. I was told that they had seen a snake disappear into a brush pile near a dumpster. The brush pile was very large and was situated up against two drain holes, each several feet across. I began pulling branches off of the pile one at a time until I finally reached the ground when I saw a gopher snake moving through the remaining brush. I tried several times to grab the snake but was not able to capture it. It likely escaped under the large dumpster next to the brush pile. I contacted the office that called us and explained what I found. She was glad that I found the snake and was relieved it was not a rattlesnake. She said that she would call for the landscapers to come and take care of the brush.

1:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was doing yard work when he saw the neonate rattlesnake coiled on a branch of a small bush. He tried to get it with the shovel but it struck at the shovel and he got scared. The snake was unharmed, coiled under the bush. The yard was large with a lot of vegetation and backed up to a desert wash.

After a few attempts to convince the snake to leave the yard , it curled up in front of the barbecue and refused to move. Luckily, it was in the same spot when I arrived, and I was able to relocate it to a nearby hillside into a dense packrate.

5:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This rattlesnake had been making itself home at a Del Taco for the past 3 days per the employees. He was showing up in the same spot in the afternoon, seen when taking out trash, and then would disappear at night. They did not know where the snake was. I had flipped over a rat trap several times and lifted it up with tongs, feeling satisfied there was no snake inside, and began to check the perimeter with no luck. The employee then showed me a photo of the snake and I realized it was very, very small. I went back to the rat trap, shook it and out came the young snake! He was relocated to a much better taco-less home. Stay spicy, my friend.

He said he had been out and in the front door all morning and never saw it. They have our fencing in the back yard. They are not far from a lot of state trust land.

A bit later when they were inside by the windows, they heard rattling and rediscovered the western diamondback curled up under some outdoor furniture watching them. I was able to relocate the snake off a nearby trail into a large packrat nest.

7:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowners called with rattlesnake in backyard. They had installed their own rattlesnake fencing, which was done fairly well, but had a few gaps. Their dog was in the backyard, which is what alerted them to the snake. Luckily they were able to get the dog inside before he was bitten. The snake unfortunately, curled up under a gigantic backyard umbrella with 400 pounds of sand in the base. But after some strategic thinking, we were able to tilt the umbrella over and grab the snake. The western diamondback was then released off of a nearby trail into a pack rat midden.

He has a big desert drainage right on the side of his home and a lot of desert surrounding it. He did not want to pay to save the snake so I did it for free.

He was picking some things up in his back yard when he lifted a bag and a rattlesnake was under it. The rest of the yard didn’t have anything for the snake to hide under. They backed up to some desert with even more a little further down the road.

9:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about a baby rattlesnake on back patio. Arrived and customers escorted me to the back patio and pointed out the snake. Noticed a neonate atrox in ambush against the door of a patio chair. Snake had 2 segments and was able to rattle and did so briefly. Customers stated they heard it the night before but was alerted to it tonight by an indoor can seeing it through the glass door. Used oversized tweezers to capture and bucket with no incident. Inspected the backyard. Large yard with wash bordering to the south. Back wall had view fence but was on a reasonable high brick wall. Not sure an adult could enter through here but a neonate certainly couldn’t. Side yard on the east side of property had drainage holes and side yard on the west side had large gate. If I had to guess based on where the snake was on the patio I’d say it came in through the east. Large backyard that was well maintained but had a few areas of concern. The customer had a big woodpile behind the fireplace. Inspected it and no snakes. Large Agave americana towards the west end of the yard that had numerous dead offshoots around the base making it easy for snakes to hide but hard for humans to access. Pointed both of these out to the customer. Customer stated it’s the first rattlesnake they’ve seen on the property in 4 years they’ve lived there. Offered a free fence quote and they obliged. No other snakes found.

She did want it removed from the periphery of her property so she gave us a call. Educated on removing debris on side of house where snake was likely finding habitat. 11:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called about a rattlesnake in his garage. Another removal service had been called out a week prior and was unable to find it. He attempted to call them back out but was told that they were "closed for the season". When I arrived, the snake was no longer where it was last seen about an hour prior. The garage, like many, was packed full of miscellaneous clutter and it was difficult to know where to start. As I started removing items, I noticed that there was also a very significant rodent population that had been occupying the space for quite some time. In one corner, I found an old, shed skin. Several minutes later found the snake under a pile of scrap wood, frightened and doing its best to not get evicted from what was going to be an amazing winter home.

3:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner noticed the rattlesnake half way through some chicken wire she had on her view fence. She said it was struggling to get out but couldn’t make it. When I pulled up, the snake was almost dead from being in direct sunlight, and it was 84 degrees. The snake was limp. The homeowner was trying to shade it and put water in it. I cut it free and placed it in my bucket with cool water to bring its body temperature back down. I let it hang out in bucket for awhile to gather its strength back. When I relocated it the snake was striking and had came back to life.

One zipped to the back but the other stayed put. I was able to grab the one that stayed but couldn’t see the other one and there was no way of opening up this hot tub besides the one hatch. They are going to keep checking and call me when they see it. The home has a view fence that has a desert area behind it.

I arrived and found that the snake had not moved and then captured it. The home is situated in the middle of a neighborhood but has a wash running just behind the property. There is a lot of landscaping in the backyard, but it looked very well maintained. There were several plants however that needed to be cut back to expose the ground below. The home also has snake fencing that was there when the current owners moved in. I searched but did not find any record of us installing a fence at that address. The fence was in decent shape but compromised in several places. The homeowner was very concerned about the snake and wanted to be contacted about a fencing consultation soon as she has several dogs.

He pushed it out of his yard but then it just sat in the road and he thought it may get hit by a car so he called to have it relocated. The snake was ok thankfully. The snake was coiled under a plant right by this guys garage and the garage had gaps in it. I believe it was hibernating in the garage and came out on a nice day. The home had a bunch of state trust land across the street.

The hot tub guy saw two rattlesnakes at the entrance of the door going into the hot tub. One slithered to the back before I got there but I was able to grab one. A few days later the homeowner said the snake was at the entrance of the hot tub again. Maggie went but she wasn’t able to snag it before it slithered into the back again. Then a few weeks passed and he finally saw it at the entrance again today. I was able to grab it. The home backs up to some desert and the community has a lot of desert near by.

He at first thought it was dead, but soon realized that it was very much alive. I did a quick search of the rest of the property and did not find any other snakes. The home is on a golf course with a view fence and is situated next to a desert preserve. The homeowners would like to be contacted for a fencing estimate.

When I arrived, the western diamondback was curled up in the corner closest to the garage door just beside a shelf. The homeowner did say that he had his garage open for a little bit yesterday, so it is very likely that with the warm and wet weather we have had, the snake could’ve been hanging out around the outside of the house and snuck in, or it has been here for weeks. No way to be sure. I took the snake across the street and released it into the deep cover of a large packrat nest underneath a Palo verde tree. Cave Creek.
