Phoenix 85024 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Called about rattlesnake at front door. Customer stated this was the second call they’ve made to RS in the past week. Arrived at property and was shown to the snake which was in the front courtyard against a north facing wall behind a metal box. Adult atrox I believed to be female and possibly gravid. Utilized tongs to capture and bucket snake with no issue. Snake did strike at tongs and was noted to be pretty defensive. Snake did not stop rattling the entire time I was with it. Performed inspection of rest of courtyard and backyard and found no other snakes. Customers stated they had recently received a fencing quote and was likely to call to schedule after this morning.

Phoenix 85085 None Received a call from employee at Fireside at Norterra about a rattlesnake hiding in bush near the pool @ 1121. Arrived at property approximately 40 minutes later. Staff pointed out area where snake was first spotted by children on the south side of building underneath an awning. Was shown bush where snake was last seen. It was a sizable rosemary bush. Utilized 2 hooks to prop apart branches and used flashlight to look into center of the bush. Did this in sections. I looked through the bush 3x before informing staff that there was no snake in the bush. I then preformed an inspection of the closest areas where snake may had moved and still found no snake. Inspected many Leucophyllum and hesperaloe plants but no snake found. Performed a brief inspection inside the pool area and still no snake found. I showed staff pictures of common colubrid snakes in the area but they stated the pictures did not look similar. A lifeguard passing by stated she didn’t see that snake but said someone who did said “it was either a rattlesnake or a bullsnake.” Informed staff that no snake was captured but if they see the snake later to call me and I would come back to remove it for free.

12:30 AM
Phoenix 85024 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about a rattlesnake at the back door of a home in north Phoenix. Arrived at home and callers wife greeted me at front door and provided me a key for the side gate. Entered the back yard and greeted customer who showed me the snake. Observed a young adult atrox in ambush in corner of the patio facing east. Utilized tongs to capture snake without incident. Snake did not rattle. Performed quick inspection of back and front yards. Customer stated they saw it the night before and were able to chase it away with a spade. Customer saw it on a Ring camera before calling 911. Customer had stated they have never seen a snake in the 6 years they have lived there. This was an unusual area to find an atrox. The closest access point to habitat was several blocks to the NE. No wash or other surrounding habitat. Home was in the middle of a neighborhood. Thinking the snake may have been in the area for a while I checked the front yard and surrounding homes for places a snake might try to den in. The customer had a car in the driveway with a car cover that draped down to the concrete. I suspect the snake may have taken refuge under this for at least a day or so and would move into the backyard via side gate at night in search of food or water. Backyard small and free of landscaping largely but several pieces of patio furniture with covers. Provided customers education on snake behavior and my suspicions of why the snake was there. Informed them that the home itself was an odd area to find a rattlesnake but to exercise awareness in the future.
