Both of her dogs have been bitten and treated for the bites and she didn’t want to take any risks. When I arrived I was directed to the area the snake was being observed at. It was under a tall bush. I attempted to catch it and the branches got in the way. It retreated backwards towards the house. I moved around plant quickly to its location where I was able to catch it with my tongs. They said they did not have visual of the snake but wanted me to come to be sure. When I arrived I saw the snake sticking its head out. I captured the snake and relocated it immediately afterwards. Once the snake was captured I checked through property to insure the customers had a better piece of mind and also educated them on different snake species and how to reduce chances of having snakes. While searching the customer was not even sure it was a rattlesnake. I checked through bushes, which was area snake was last seen. The bushes had deep pockets that I could not lift up all the way. I utilized the customers garden hose and floooded the area. I lifted the plants branch again and found a freshly born western diamondback under it with an obvious meal in its stomach. Entire interior and exterior of villa was searched thoroughly. It was in prime habitat. They were not concerned about exterior as much. Previous residence at resort had 2 baby snakes inside. The workers believed that the guests may have left a large door open when temps were cooler at night. I found nothing to suspect that there was an entry point for snakes to get in besides a door left open. End of report. |

Unfortunately the customer killed all the babies and attempted to get the mom but was not successful. He wanted me to check his yard and packrat nest he saw the mom at. I throughly went through back yard that was inclosed by fence. I then went on other side to the packrat nest. It was one of the largest I had seen. I used the customers garden hose for about 30 minutes flooding every part of the nest. No success. I then used tool and broke it apart looking for snakes. No success. I then searched and broke down 2 other packrat nests afterwards. No success in finding anything except some pack rats. I told customer to use a pest control company to help maintain rodent issue. I also advised him to trim or remove lantana bushes. End of report. |

They had an area they thought. When I arrived I noticed they had snake fencing in 3/4 of there yard. But the portion they had fenced was not properly done. Vertically the fence was barely 24 inches. And in some parts less. And the entire gate areas were wide open. I searched the yard very throughly. I flooded a few different parts with the clients garden hose. I checked all bushes and flipped anything that seemed suspicious. No snake was found. The snake either went over small parts of fencing or went right out one of the gates. End of report. |

The pictures she sent are very dark and not 100% resembling a snake. But either way I checked all sky lights and areas a snake may be. I walked perimeter of common housing and found some tall bushes that reach the roof. There were no trees near her skylights so a branch moving across with the wind was out of the question. I did my best to find anything but had little results because I had no access to the roof. By the time I got there they had separated. They went in opposite directions. The first that was caught was near garbage bin and rakes. It was captured with no issue. The second was near some yuca and a large volcanic rock. Also caught with no issue. I checked the remaining parts of yard just to give the customers a better piece of mind. No more were found. When myself and the apartment employee Chris were walking to the tenants door we noticed a gophersnake slithering away in opposite direction of the patio. It was very close to patio area. I captured without issue. I then checked the patio wall area with no finds. I used small tools to pull up the lip that the snake supposedly went up. I believe the gophersnake caught was the culprit. I was able to identify it as a non venomous gophersnake shed. I searched the yard in both front and back with no finds. I flipped and flooded any suspicious areas that I could. No finds. He wanted advice how to slow down snake populations and also search for snake that bit the dogs. The house was on 1 and a half acres. I was able to cover it all. The plants were all well kept up and trimmed. Some of the drip systems were broken so he planned on fixing them. He was not interested in fencing and preferred to kill any rattlesnake he would see. He refused to listen to any and all educational points behind the conservation behind snakes. I did find a freshly killed snake presumably from the dogs that had killed a rattlesnake the same way a month before. He also told me his pest control company was going to come and put snake repellent down. I told him it was a waste of money. He still wanted them to do so even after I told him how they don’t work. The facility has had 3-4 snakes found inside building where the clients stay. Which is an obvious concern. I did perimeter check first. It’s an old building and some parts are Gradually wearing away. There was 2 large breach areas going into building wall near one of the doors. The Utility closet was completely worn away on bottom and there were several holes around the base of the water heater. I also explained to trim large plants including lantanas. I also told him to be Leary of having bird feeders around property. From the inside I was able to find 2 breaches that would be concerning. 1 was in utility closet and the other in the nurses office. The nurses office breach was connected with the exterior utility closet. Besides breaches I witnessed staff leaving doors open. I explained to Andy that it is a serious concern seeing the employees leaving doors open in such a suitable habitat. No snakes were found but he planned on beginning the projects to help seal the building off immediately. End of report. |
