10:00 AM		 Phoenix 85045 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake Homeowner called about a Speckled Rattlesnake curled up on her back porch next to the door. This home is no stranger to snakes as they have had us out to remove them many times in the past. The home is backed right up against the base of a hill in South Mtn Preserve. The yard is relatively large but free of hiding spots aside from the north-facing back porch which is really the only area a snake could survive the heat of the day this time of year.

10:30 PM		 Phoenix 85085 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The tenant of a home in North Phoenix called after seeing a baby rattlesnake on his back porch. He has only lived in the state for a month and this is the second rattlesnake he has seen on his property. The home backs up to a section of State Trust Land. There is a block wall surrounding the backyard, but there are drains in the block, and side gates with gaps. No other snakes were found.

7:00 AM		 Phoenix 85048 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This is a fence customer of ours. It is a preschool. This morning when checking the playground to make sure it was safe a teacher spotted the baby rattlesnake coiled on the turf. They weren't able to watch it and it wasn’t there when I arrived. I looked under everything and throughout the whole playground. There was an empty space between the turf and the corner of the building. I lifted the turf and saw a tiny hole. I poured water in the hole and the neonate came out. Behind the school, there is a little chunk of desert and even more across the street.

9:00 AM		 Phoenix 85085 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called after seeing a rattlesnake coiled up in the shaded corner of her breezeway, not far from the front door. The home backs up to a mountain preserve and has a view fence in the back. The breezeway had an iron gate with gaps on each side. After the snake was removed, I searched the property for more, but none were found.

10:00 AM		 Phoenix 85029 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake The owner of a condo at the base of Shaw Butte called after her cats alerted her to the presence of a snake that had found its way into her screened porch. When I arrived, it was coiled up in the shade next to a ceramic cat. The snake likely came directly from off the mountain and in through a large gap under the back door. This is the second time she has had a snake in the same place. No other snakes were found.

There is a lot of construction in the area and with the recent rains, it would make sense for a snake to be moving through. Easy grab and relocation just northeast of the property into a packrat nest on one of the few undeveloped parcels in the area.

The dog had already been let out several times today so it is lucky they didn’t notice one another because it was really close to the doggy door where the dog was coming outside. The home didn’t have much cover in the rest of the yard but this area was shady and covered. The home backed up to south mountain preserve.

The snake was already secured in a bucket and being held in the nice cool office while I was on my way. Plenty of snakes on this property as a wash runs right through the middle of the complex leading to multiple encounters for the residents throughout any given year.

3:30 PM		 Phoenix 85050 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The owners of a home in North Phoenix called us after finding a baby rattlesnake near the gate leading to their backyard. They said that the night prior they had just watched a Rattlesnake Solutions YouTube video about baby rattlesnakes being everywhere. This home was very close to the 51 and 101 in a development just across the canal from a small section of native desert, and this was the first rattlesnake that the homeowners have ever had on their property. I checked the front and back yards for additional snakes, but none were found. This was a very small neonate, and I was a little surprised not to find others.

3:00 AM		 Phoenix 85054 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Burnes Pest Elimination was called on behalf of the American Express office campus in North Phoenix after security reported seeing a baby rattlesnake. When I arrived, a member of the security team escorted me to the snake which was just outside of the entrance to one of the buildings. He explained to me that someone on the previous shift had found the snake and placed sticky traps around it to keep it from escaping, and by the time he arrived, the snake was completely stuck to several of the traps. He was able to retrieve a bottle of cooking oil from the dining facility, and I gently worked the snake free. Prior to release, I gave it a rinse with some fresh water. No other snakes were found.

After capturing the snake, I searched the rest of the yard but did not find any other snakes. The house is very close to the Fireside at Norterra and a large desert preserve. The yard was clean, with well-maintained landscaping, some of which I recommended be trimmed around the base. There was a block wall on all three sides. There was a gate on each side, both with a gap, and a drain on one side. I looked at the garage door as well. There was a small gap on one side, and one in the center under joint in the driveway. The home has two small dogs and a two-year-old child that they want to keep safe.

3:30 PM		 Phoenix 85050 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was walking through the front door when he looked over and saw the baby rattlesnake coiled under a bush next to the home. This area is always an odd one when I get snakes over here. There is a large canal dividing the desert on one side and nothing but homes and businesses on the other. I took the baby rattlesnake back to the desert side.

6:30 PM		 Phoenix 85024 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The owner of a home in North Phoenix called after finding a baby rattlesnake stuck in a glue trap in his garage. He was unwilling to pay for the service and was just going to leave the snake there until he could find someone who would take it. I was just finishing a call about 10 minutes away and offered to remove the snake at no cost. The homeowner provided me with some cooking oil, and I was able to free the snake after several minutes. The snake was uncomfortable and scared, but it was not injured. After it was free from the trap, I rinsed off the oil with some water and took the snake to a nearby preserve for relocation.

The home was located between North Mountain and Shaw Butte. It was an old property with very dense, heavily watered, jungle-like landscaping and decades-old clutter surrounding a pool in the backyard. After catching the snake, I searched for others but did not find any. The homeowner is aware that his property is providing a lot of cover and a lot of water and it sits at the base of the mountain so there could be multiple snakes anywhere on the property at any given time.

5:00 PM		 Phoenix 85045 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was out on the back patio for a while sitting on the couch and when she went in she glanced behind the couch and saw the rattlesnake coiled up. The yard didn’t have much in it but they did have watered grass. The home also had a large drainage in front of it that led straight to South Mountain. They had a view fence with a closed-down golf course behind them.

10:30 PM		 Phoenix 85018 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake The owner of an ABNB on Camelback Mountain called after one of his guests reported being bitten by a baby rattlesnake. About an hour had passed since the bite when I was contacted, and another 45 minutes before I arrived at the residence. No one was home when I arrived because they were all still at the hospital, but thanks to very specific information from the homeowner, I located the snake fairly quickly. It was very close to the area where the encounter took place. The large home was high on the side of Camelback Mountain and had a lot of atypical features compared to most other homes in the valley, consisting of a lot of rocky nooks and water features. The "yard" was very steep and integrated into the mountain. I did my best to search the rest of the property, but I did not find any other snakes. I received word that the woman who was bitten was doing well but was still hospitalized several hours after the bite.

This business complex has many buildings on campus and this small snake managed to find its way inside snd get into an office in the middle of the building. The snake was captured and relocated down the street back in the desert.

This home had an open backyard that had the South Mountain Preserve behind it. In 16 years he’s only had four snakes which for having the desert right behind him isn’t too bad. He didn’t have much vegetation in the ground. A lot of his plants were in pots.
