Tucson | 85715 | None | Customer called inquiring about a piece of mind inspection. When I questioned her about it she explained that she heard a rattlesnake last night around 8 pm. When I asked her to explain the sound and situation she did describe a rattlesnake. She was concerned it was still in backyard and wanted me to look around to make sure it was clear for her dogs. I searched the property very thoroughly. I first searched the area she described she heard the noise. The area itself was a wooded fence with holes underneath it leading to an ally which had lots of debris and shade in it. And then also into her neighbors yard which had large oleanders and other assortments of plants. Her yard specifically had little to no shade or hiding places where the incident took place. I also checked other part of yard that was bricked in. The yard was separated by an open viewing gate. And on other side of bricked in yard was another viewing gate. I also looked near the shed that was not enclosed by any fences. It was a distance from the area this took place but seemed like the most suitable area of her yard. The shed had 1/4 inch mesh around the base, but there were large gaps in 2 different places. I told the customer to stay vigilant and to call us if the snake reappears. She was interested in a fencing quote from us. End of report. |

There was a small hole on side of bucket. I slowly moved the bucket. The snake remained in a relaxed demeanor. I was able to slowly and easily capture the snake with my tongs. I searched the rest of carport and surrounding bushes. No further snakes found. End of report. |

10:30 AM |
Oro Valley | 85737 | None | Customer called about inspection being completed at 2 storage facilities. This first one had found a young rattlesnake inside of building near one of the side entrances under a cart. When I arrived I did a perimeter check for any active snakes. None were found. On the outside I noticed the main plant were lantanas. Lantanas are a common area for rattlesnakes to be found. It was recommended that the plants be removed and a less shady plant be used instead. 3 separate retractable doors were also an issue. Under all of them was a minimum gap of 1/2-3/4 inch gap. Which is more then likely where the young rattlesnake entered from a month back. It was also discussed to continue having pest control out to keep rodent populations down. Behind building near the wash was a pile of rocks near garbage bins. They were not being used and just sitting there creating a good hiding area for a rattlesnake. It was also mentioned that they should fill in gaps underneath large boulders and to ensure drip systems were in good working condition and not letting out excess water. They had recently done some brush clearing behind building. That was a great step in reducing shade. There was 1 exit door that was not of immediate concern, but the weather stripping was beginning to create a gap. End of report. |

12:30 PM |
Tucson | 85704 | None | This was the second of 2 storage facilities that the customer wanted inspected. Although there hadn’t been a rattlesnake sighting for a longer period of time the customer wanted to ensure the safety of her employees and clients by having an inspection conducted there also. On the exterior perimeter check o noticed that there was a large wash system directly below the building. The last snake seen was at a door adjacent to the wash. The buildings had very dense brush like plants that would give great shade corn rattlesnake. It was advised that any plants like that be either removed or continuously trimmed to reduce shade. I also noticed some large holes underneath concrete that air conditioners were sitting on. It was advised to have those deep gaps filled and continue with a pest control company to slow down the snakes food source. Of the 17 doors that were checked only 2 were a concern. Like the first inspection, the retractable door had a large gap underneath. The gentleman who showed me the grounds explained that he has witnessed large lizards able to get in easily. The second door was “ door #6”. This door should be tightened down a bit to ensure nothing is able to get through. No active snakes were found. End of report. |

Tucson | 85730 | None | Customer called wanting inspection of interior and exterior of treatment facility building. The facility has had 3-4 snakes found inside building where the clients stay. Which is an obvious concern. I did perimeter check first. It’s an old building and some parts are Gradually wearing away. There was 2 large breach areas going into building wall near one of the doors. The Utility closet was completely worn away on bottom and there were several holes around the base of the water heater. I also explained to trim large plants including lantanas. I also told him to be Leary of having bird feeders around property. From the inside I was able to find 2 breaches that would be concerning. 1 was in utility closet and the other in the nurses office. The nurses office breach was connected with the exterior utility closet. Besides breaches I witnessed staff leaving doors open. I explained to Andy that it is a serious concern seeing the employees leaving doors open in such a suitable habitat. No snakes were found but he planned on beginning the projects to help seal the building off immediately. End of report. |
