Phoenix 85042 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake Customer called about a Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake moving along the sidewalk of her neighbor’s home, lost sight of the snake. Her neighbors then placed a separate call for the same snake as it had curled up next to their side gate. Home is backed right up to the northern foothills of South Mountain. Snake was in the front yard, not much usable cover there so it was likely just passing through until it was noticed by the customer. I hiked the snake up into the hills and placed it in some deep cover in a wash surrounded by hills with large boulders.

Phoenix 85042 Blacktailed Rattlesnake Customer called about a Blacktailed Rattlesnake curled up on his back patio next to his grill. The back yard is right up against the northern foothills of south mountain in a neighborhood that we commonly get called out to. The yard is not snake proof and has plenty of gaps and spaces for a snake to get through, I was shocked when they told me this was their first rattlesnake they’d seen in the time they’ve lived in this home. Inspected the rest of the yard and did not find any other snakes, recommended they trim back a few overgrown bushes to help see under them better. Snake was taken out into the hills to the SW of the home and placed in a deep tunnel in a wash wall that was surrounded by plenty of shady trees and rocky habitat suitable for this species.

Phoenix 85042 Sonoran Gophersnake Homeowner called about a potential rattlesnake in her backyard that her dogs were barking at. Lost sight of the snake in the midst of the chaos, so I had to do a bit of searching. The yard was big and had lots of open space but also plenty of debris for snakes to hide in. My main focus was a tortoise burrow that was near where the snake was seen (they have a pet tortoise) so after checking the rest of the yard I started to flood the burrow. About 5 mins later a large Sonoran Gophersnake popped out. Confirmed with the lady that it was the snake she saw, she said it was rattling its tail and I explained to her that all snakes will do that when they feel threatened. Snake released into a deep cave in the side of a wash wall within its estimated home range. South Phoenix Homeowner called about a potential rattlesnake in her backyard that her dogs were barking at. Phoenix 85041 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was about to step outside when they noticed a western diamondback rattlesnake right by the back door. By the time I arrived, it had moved under the outdoor refrigerator. After I pulled the fridge out, the snake moved behind the back wall of the outdoor kitchen, which required me to flood it out. Once it emerged, it started drinking the water, so once it was in the bucket it was treated to more water. There are access points under both side gates. The snake was released into the South Mountain Preserve, which is almost certainly where it came from.

Phoenix 85041 Sonoran Gophersnake Yesterday a customer of the extra space storage facility saw what he said to be a rattlesnake in his storage unit. He watched it slither to the one next to his and he took a video. They showed me the video when I arrived, and it was a harmless gopher snake. They still wanted me to check it out. We opened the unit it slithered to first and it was so jammed packed we could barely open the door. We then looked in the unit the guy saw it and the snake was pretty much in the same corner he saw it yesterday. It was a young gophersnake. The storage facility backs up to the salt river bottom and the door aren’t sealed tight. It’s an outdoor storage facility.
