When it got too hot the snake would disappear into a valve box next to its normal hangout spot. They had a plumber coming out and wanted us to move the snake so as not to scare them. The snake was in the rather deep (.75 meter?) Valve box cavity along with a large desert hairy scorpion and the desiccated corpse of a rodent.

When I arrived, I found a scrawny Northern Black-tailed rattlesnake, apparently a male, coiled in a corner by some patio furniture. The home is at the base of a rocky hillside and has a pool and lots of plants. The snake may have come for water.

7:30 PM		 Marana 85743 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called because they had found a diamondback in their garage. When I arrived, the homeowner was looking at a snake in a glue trap, which I identified as a Sonoran gopher snake. They were not convinced that that was the snake that they had called for, so I kept looking and found a small adult western diamondback in the garage as well. The diamondback was captured, I freed the gopher snake from the trap, and both snakes were released nearby.

4:30 PM		 Marana 85743 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Tenants in an Airbnb had seen a snake early in the afternoon at this property and the owner called from out of state to have us check it out. I had visited this property last year for a snake seen going under a hot tub and this call was identical. Though the witness had heard a “hissing sound” as the snake disappeared beneath the hot tub they thought it might not be a rattlesnake. After examining the yard, I found a rather dried-out-looking female Western Diamondback Rattlesnake coiled along the fence line. This property has a wash lined with dense brush directly over the fence and has multiple areas where snakes could move back and forth. A snake fence could be beneficial here.

10:30 AM		 Marana 85743 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called after his Ring camera alerted him that there was motion at his front door, and when he checked to see what it was, he discovered a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake cruising around his front yard. He is no stranger to rattlesnakes, as he’s had 17 removed from his property in the past year or so. Thankfully he kept an eye on it while I was en route, and when I arrived it was sitting in ambush under a prickly pear. I secured the snake in the bucket and relocated it to a suitable habitat within its home range: down into a rodent burrow surrounded by cover.

When I arrived, the snake had retreated into the hole where I had worked to use a hose in order to lure the snake out. Following that being unsuccessful. There was a giant spool located near the hole where I was able to successfully lift that sport to identify two snakes, one diamondback, rattlesnake, and one gopher snake where I was able to safely retrieve both snakes.

Homeowner identified a snake going into the existing hole off the side of the house. Following call, I was able to locate the snake outside of the hole curled up in the corner of the brick wall. The surrounding area of where the snake was located is behind the gate of the backyard is open desert.

I transferred the snake to my bucket without incident. I cleared the scene and relocated the snake.
