Phoenix | 85028 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | I received a call about a rattlesnake in a back yard in which RS had installed fencing under a year ago. Checked out and confirmed property was still under warranty. Arrived at property and was escorted to backyard. Customer’s had two big dogs both of which were caged when I arrived. Customer stated one of the dogs found the snake which the customers then saw the snake at the bottom of the stairs of the pool on the south side of property. When I arrived snake was crawling on the east side of the yard moving north toward a side yard. Snake was a sizable male atrox. Snake began rattling and postured until I captured it using tongs. Snake struck at tongs. Bucketed snake with no issue but snake struck towards the lid as I closed it. The snake did not stop rattling during the entire encounter and was heard still rattling as I left the release site. Did an inspection of the entire backyard and fence line. No other snakes found in yard. Fence line seemed good except for one small hole with wire running through in drainage hole on west side of yard. Customer states the person who installed that wire did cut the mesh. After inspecting the cut with wire running through I am confident that there was no way the snake I captured would have been able to fit through the hole. I’m fairly certain not even a neonate could fit through the hole as any gaps were less than 1/4”. Customer stated that there has been workers doing projects in the backyard recently but did not know if they proper gate open. I implored customer to inform the workers to watch the gate and not prop it open unattended. Customer agreed. I decided not to charge relocation fee. I’m aware that modifications void the warranty but I am certain the snake could not possible have entered through the modification. I informed the customer that someone from the fence team would contact them. Customer agreed. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner spotted this rattlesnake hanging out underneath a bush in her yard while she was doing yard work. One side of the property had open fencing all the way to the ground, which was the likely entry point. This was our second visit to this property this year. The homeowner understands the risks associated with desert living and has no problem with the snakes coming and going. This one had decided to hang out for a while, so it was time to go. It was relocated just outside the neighborhood into a large pack rat nest underneath a bush. |

Phoenix | 85028 | Sonoran Gophersnake | Homeowner called about an unknown snake under some patio furniture. Upon arrival I determined that it was a Sonoran Gophersnake. Yard was well kept and home backs up to a small wash so snake was most likely waiting out the heat of the day in the shade before moving on again. Snake was taken to better habitat in the preserve and placed into deep cover under a palo verde tree in a wash. |

New River | 85087 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowners heard their dog barking differently outside and went to investigate. They heard a rattle and quickly brought the dog inside; it had not gotten close enough to be bitten. The snake was coiled under some vegetation against the home. Although this was a large horse property, there was very little vegetation and no shady areas where a snake could stay out of the sun. The home is surrounded by desert and enclosed by a chain-link fence. |

Phoenix | 85050 | Sonoran Gophersnake | A Sonoran gophersnake was found by a family with its head stuck in one glue trap and its tail stuck in another. I was able to place the snake and the glue traps directly into a bucket and take them home, where I poured olive oil on the snake, let it sit for some time, and then gently massaged the snake free without any damage. The snake was then given water and taken back to the area where it was originally found, and relocated 1.5 miles away in nearby natural desert, into a rodent burrow with surrounding desert tree cover. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner noticed she had about 17 quail eggs in a pot in the backyard. Over the last few days, she realized they had been disappearing. This morning, she saw a gophersnake slither away from the pot and into a nearby drain pipe in the ground. I started to flood the pipe, but the water just kept going and I wasn’t sure where the pipe ended. After about 15 minutes, the gophersnake finally showed its head, and several minutes later it fully emerged. It was a smaller gophersnake and did not have eggs in its belly, so I’m not sure who else had been snacking. I checked the rest of the yard, which was within our fencing, and didn’t see anything. |

The property had a block wall and a view fence, and the homeowners were very interested in snake fencing. Their pest control contractor had previously installed some, but it was not bolted down at the bottom and was not long enough. They are snowbirds from Seattle and are leaving in a week. |

Cave Creek | 85262 | Kingsnake | Just moving into the property. Notes for fencing. She has a front courtyard that has a climb risk due to a low wall, but wants to discuss options if you have any creative solutions after looking at it. The backyard looks very doable. They have existing mesh, though that is the wrong size and not properly attached and on the wrong side of the fence, all of that good stuff. She’s going to cut back all of the brush on the other side of the fence. The property is not a major snake, heavy yard, but would like to get a quote anyway, and I bet it would go through. They are only here for another few days and leave on Monday, Memorial Day, so if possible to get out there Thursday or Friday I bet we could get it. |

Scottsdale | 85266 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner’s dog was outside when she heard a loud rattle and quickly brought her dog inside. The snake was slithering along the back fence with a belly full of something. It tried several times to get through the view fence, but its swollen belly kept getting in the way. It eventually coiled under a bush in the backyard. The yard was large with a lot of vegetation, though all the plants were still very young. The homeowner had a bird feeder and birdbaths, and there was some natural desert behind the view fence. I noticed some feathers near the bush where she first saw the snake, so it may have caught a bird. |
