I have been here previously to remove a snake for them, only this was in an adjoining unit to the last one. There was a juvenile, apparent female and well-fed, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake hiding beneath an overhang next to the door to the unit. Tucson 85741 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Sonoran Gophersnake This homeowner called when he found a Sonoran Gophersnake sticking its head out of an irrigation valve box in his backyard. Unsure if it was a rattlesnake or not, he called and gave me a description of the snake to check. I told the homeowner based on the description it sounded like a Sonoran Gophersnake: and explained that they are harmless and are great to have around for pest control. As we were conversing, the homeowner was startled when he saw a large adult Western Diamondback Rattlesnake cruising through the grass- headed straight for the irrigation box. I jumped in the car and began heading that way. While I was en route, the Western Diamondback decided to hang out with the Gophersnake in the irrigation box until I arrived. Once I arrived, I carefully opened the lid of the irrigation box using my tongs and found the 2 snakes together. The homeowner said he was fine leaving the Gophersnake, but definitely wanted the rattlesnake gone. I secured the rattlesnake in the bucket, and relocated it to a nearby wash, and sent it down into a deep rodent burrow.

I began inspecting through out entire building. There were many areas the snake could have been hiding. I lifted and checked behind everything I could. I saw 3 mice inside and countless amounts of rodent droppings in every area. The workshop was in an ideal habitat for numerous species of snakes. The customer described snake to be 14 inches in length and not rattle. Species would be difficult to determine given the prime habitat of area. No snake found. End of report.

Oro Valley 85737 Nine Customer had rattlesnake on back porch night before. Unfortunately husband killed. Customer wanted steps to securing backyard and going forward in preventative measures. Right off the bat the gates area had gaps making it easy for any rattlesnake to get through of any size. Also on other side of property holes were found in bottom of wall for drainage to go through. Customer only had one bush that would be suitable hiding habitat. She said it will be removed. Also explained that her pool equipment was a very possible area for another encounter because of the spaces for hiding and also a tree sat above it creating a shady area. It was also discussed that all dog feces be picked up immediately so that various rodent species do not utilize it for a food source. I also found a rodent hole leading underneath the air conditioner. I utilized a garden in an attempt to flood any remaining snakes in hiding. Nothing was found. End of report.

Oro Valley 85737 None Customer wanted advice on how to reduce rattlesnakes around his property and especially common areas near home. The house was on 3 1/2 acres with large rock piles going around entire home area and also a wash running through yard. I told him that the outside of fence area would not be possible to control the snakes Because it was very open. Common area had wall around majority. Some areas were very low to rock pile making it and access point for snake movement into common area. Along with front gate only having about 12 inches of protection. I did find some slight rodent activity and recommended pest control services be utilized. I did find a coachwhip snake skin that was fairly fresh. The skin was found near a very large cave like rock area that I flooded with garden hose in anticipation for activity. No finds. End of report.

When I arrived I examined all bushes in backyard. I was able to find a large gophersnake under a fake bridge that was very old and dead. I then inspected area the longnose was last seen. It was a large cactus area with old traces of packrat nest inside of it. The customers were not moved in yet so I was unabl to use garden hose. I dug in certain areas to if anything would come out. Nothing did. I gave customers advice to get in touch with rodent control to assist with the rodents on property. Oro Valley 85737 None Customer called about inspection being completed at 2 storage facilities. This first one had found a young rattlesnake inside of building near one of the side entrances under a cart. When I arrived I did a perimeter check for any active snakes. None were found. On the outside I noticed the main plant were lantanas. Lantanas are a common area for rattlesnakes to be found. It was recommended that the plants be removed and a less shady plant be used instead. 3 separate retractable doors were also an issue. Under all of them was a minimum gap of 1/2-3/4 inch gap. Which is more then likely where the young rattlesnake entered from a month back. It was also discussed to continue having pest control out to keep rodent populations down. Behind building near the wash was a pile of rocks near garbage bins. They were not being used and just sitting there creating a good hiding area for a rattlesnake. It was also mentioned that they should fill in gaps underneath large boulders and to ensure drip systems were in good working condition and not letting out excess water. They had recently done some brush clearing behind building. That was a great step in reducing shade. There was 1 exit door that was not of immediate concern, but the weather stripping was beginning to create a gap. End of report.

Oro Valley 85737 None Several snakes seen on the property over the last several weeks. Several sound like kings while another was probably a gopher snake, but the Fire Dept. has also removed several Western Diamondbacks. There is some existing fencing, however it is a half inch mesh and is not the sturdy material that we use. It is my belief that the play areas can be made safe from serpent intruders, but it is an extensive job. Please call to set up a day and time for the fencing estimate. They will send it up to corporate for approval.
