As we were moving the wood the gophersnake came out and I snagged it. The yard did have some heavy vegetation and citrus trees. Along with some wood and junk piles. The home had a drainage area next to it that led straight to the reservation.

7:00 PM		 Tucson 85745 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner called for a rattlesnake found while doing laundry in the garage. I found the snake hiding behind the washing machine, captured it and relocated it.

10:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about a rattlesnake on the front porch of the customer’s neighbor’s home. The customer indicated the person living in the home was elderly and out of town. The customer also indicated they would like to pay for removal even though it was not their property. Arrived at the home, and the customer’s son was watching the snake with a flashlight. I observed an adult atrox in ambush beneath the eave of the front facade (eastward-facing) and tucked behind an aloe. Used a hook to move aloe leaves out of the way and tongs to capture the snake. Once I had the snake captured with tongs I used two hands in the tongs to safely bucket it. I then performed a quick inspection of the front yard and also the front yard of the caller. I noted a juvenile Sonoran gophersnake under the eave of their home and provided education on it. The customer opted to leave it. No other snakes were noted on either property.

10:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about a rattlesnake on the back porch. Arrived at home and the customer escorted me to the backyard area. The customer pointed out through a window where the snake was and I observed an adult atrox in a defensive posture rattling. Snake was on top of a small flight of steps that led to a door inside the home. Snake was very defensive and did not stop rattling for the duration of my time with it. Snake struck tongs as I captured it and struck out twice when I had it bucketed. Performed an inspection of the back yard. The yard was very large with topography. Home sat at the bottom of a granite mountain. Pointed out to the customer several areas of concern for overgrown vegetation that was irrigated near the pool area and provided education on snake behavior and encouraged the customer to keep plants trimmed or eliminate them. Walked around the fence line, and I noticed new holes. There is an area where the fencing stops as the wall intersects with a giant boulder on the east end of the yard. Fencing material just kind of folded back into the open desert where a snake could easily enter. I offered the customer a free fencing quote and they obliged. The customer shared concerns they had about their small dog and I stressed the importance of prevention.

9:00 PM		 Tucson 85750 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called regarding a rattlesnake she found lounging around her courtyard. This was her first rattlesnake sighting on this property, and she called us immediately to come grab it. When I arrived, the snake was coiled in the corner in the same spot the homeowner initially found it. I secured the snake in the bucket and released it into a deep rodent burrow in a nearby wash.

9:30 PM		 Phoenix 85044 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Apartment complex at the base of South Mountain called about a Western Diamondback that was cruising around one of their buildings. When I arrived the snake was on the move and halfway under a bush. This place is right on South Mountain and they get plenty of snakes so the tenants and maintenance workers know the drill. Snake relocated into deep cover in a wash in the preserve.

8:30 AM		 Surprise 85387 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A crew member at a construction site was moving materials and unknowingly came dangerously close to a rattlesnake. They let the snake stay on site, but the following day, when it was still there, they decided to call us. This was a typical construction site, with piles of building materials, refuse, and large containers. It sat on the edge of a development and had no barrier to the open native desert to the west. No other snakes were found.

9:30 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This public library, which is surrounded by desert gets rattlesnakes often. We just got three away from the building a day ago. Today they had a young rattlesnake coiled on their back patio.

11:00 AM		 Anthem 85086 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called after seeing a rattlesnake on his shady front porch. It had moved slightly into some nearby landscaping by the time I had arrived. The home is far from any development and surrounded by mountainous, native desert. It is a large property with a lot of structure and landscaping, but no irrigation system. There is no block wall bordering the home and very surprisingly, he told me that this is only the second snake he's seen since 2018. The temperature of the shaded porch was significantly cooler than the ground just beyond. I did not find any other snakes.

10:30 AM		 Tucson 85730 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This customer called RS because she’s been seeing the same snake on a slope of unconsolidated rock landscaping leading down from the swimming pool. Today, a second snake had apparently joined the first, and they were both coiled under an overhanging stone with a burrow behind it, shaded by a small Opuntia species of cactus. Snakes were older-looking male and female Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes. Temps were in the 60s and both snakes were sluggish. I have had multiple snake calls in this neighborhood over my tenure with RS.

9:00 AM		 Phoenix 85085 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The job site manager saw one of his workers looking down into a crack between a sidewalk and the concrete base of a light pole on the job site and then quickly jumped up and ran away. The site manager immediately knew that the worker had seen a snake and without investigating much closer called Rattlesnake Solutions for assistance. When I arrived I was directed towards the site manager who was standing a long distance from the spot where the rattlesnake was spotted and was verbally directed to the crack between the two concrete structures. The snake had not moved since being sighted and my arrival. It had to be gently coaxed out of the crack. After securing the rattlesnake I did a walk-through of the perimeter of the work site to inspect for other snakes, the work site is surrounded by concrete walls with a large entrance on each end, the facility is centered in a well-vegetated diverse desert habitat.

1:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The church was having a stack of doors moved out of their back storage area and one of the workers noticed a small baby Rattlesnake curled up outside of them, the worker used a nearby shovel to scoop it into an empty dry paint bucket. The church is on a large property adjacent to a great natural habitat on the back side where the storage area and snake was found. I took some time to look around their storage areas and peak into their storage sheds for any further snakes. No other snakes were found, and the baby rattlesnake was driven shortly up the road to the next safest natural habitat away from buildings.

11:00 AM		 Carefree 85377 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This is a fence customer of ours, but the snake was in the front yard. The snake was coiled up just outside the closed garage door. I checked the garage and there was a big enough gap for the snake to go in and out of the garage. I believe the snake was initially in the garage, spending the winter there, and just came out. There is a lot of desert surrounding this home in and around other homes.

2:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The snake was spotted by some kids going into the library. The snake was coiled mostly under the bridge walkway but a few scales were hanging out. The snake went further under when I went to grab it but I was eventually able to get it close to the edge and I snagged it. The bridge has lots of holes and rocks to hide in underneath. Behind the library is miles of state trust land.

4:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Caller identified a western diamondback in the garage. She was alerted to the snake’s presence by the rattle. The snake had entered the garage in recent hours, as it was left open for some time today. I immediately located the snake and removed a few items preventing capture. The snake was coiled behind a ladder and a bicycle. Removed without incident.

3:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This is a fence customer of ours. They contacted the hotline with a report of a snake climbing into the yard over the snake fencing (installed by RS 6yrs ago). The customer provided an image that was confirmed to be a western diamondback. Upon arrival, the snake was stretched between a bougainvillea bush and the inner perimeter wall. The snake was captured without incident. Upon inspection of the exterior perimeter wall and fencing, it is safe to conclude the snake utilized rogue branches that had penetrated the perforations of the fencing. The client and Jonathan walked the fence and clipped the branches protruding through. In addition, a thorough inspection was done and no additional snakes were located. A hole was observed on the far side of the home in the drainage cinder block, likely caused by someone pushing a hose through it to the front yard.

6:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85266 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The client called the hotline with a report of a rattlesnake near the rear sliding glass door. The client and his small dogs passed within the immediate vicinity of the snake and it went unnoticed until the snake alerted by rattling. The client had retrieved a shovel with the intent to dispatch the snake, but decided it was “too large” to attempt to kill. The western diamondback was removed without incident and no further activity was found. The snake was likely overwintering in a drainage pipe that was up against the home in the side yard. The pipe was about a foot or two under the earth. This was only about ten feet from where the snake was seen and it was the only deep cover around. There is a lot of desert patches throughout this community.

12:00 PM		 Oro Valley 85737 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A young person called saying they wanted us to come out and move a snake “before (their father) killed it”. The homeowner had been working in his garage when a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was observed trying to climb some cardboard near a folding table that had been set against the Eastern wall. The snake had partially retreated behind the table but was coiled and easy to tong into the bucket. This was a small adult male. Maybe 3-5 yrs?

2:00 PM		 Glendale 85310 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was picking up a package from the front porch when she noticed a rattlesnake behind a large ceramic vase. There is only one house in between this one and the dry New River riverbed. The home is also situated very close to the Thunderbird Conservation Park. After the capture, I searched for additional snakes as well as possible places where this one may have spent the winter. The backyard had a large gap under the gate, plenty of watered landscaping, and a pool. Notably, there was a large shed that sat slightly raised off the ground. This seemed like a great hiding place, but I was unsure if it was suitable for long-term protection from the cold. I did not find any other snakes.

The garage door had gaps in the corners where the snake could go in and out. The home had a drainage next to it that led straight to nearby open state trust land.

1:30 PM		 Tucson 85747 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called regarding a rattlesnake that fell off the inside of her garage door when she opened it. She called us and I quickly responded to her location to relocate the snake. The homeowner is no stranger to rattlesnakes and has frequent visits in her backyard, as a wash runs directly on the other side of her property. The juvenile Western Diamondback was relocated to a nearby wash back into its respective habitat, into a packrat nest under deep cover. Instead of grabbing a shovel, the homeowner recognized the important ecological role rattlesnakes play and called us to remove it.

6:30 PM		 Litchfield Park 85340 Longnosed Snake A house sitter called and said she had a snake stuck in a hole in the side of the home she was staying at. I arrived and found a longnosed snake stuck several inches up into a very small hole in a metal bracket on the underside of the stucco. The snake had been there for several hours and seemed unable to back out or move further up into the wall. I used some cooking oil and very gently and very slowly worked the snake out. It took about 10 minutes. The snake came out cold and stressed but did not seem to have any injuries at all.

When I arrived there was a small crowd keeping an eye on the snake. The large male atrox was extremely calm and did not resist. Given where this home was, my only conclusion was that he swam across the canal to get to this neighborhood so I gave him a ride back.

12:00 PM		 85264 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This was at a rental property that does retreats surrounded by nothing but good desert habitat. Yesterday, when they were getting ready for an event inside, what used to be a garage area with garage doors, they spotted a rattlesnake between some chairs. She thought it was dead, so she just left it. Today, when they went to remove the snake because they’re having their event, they noticed it wasn’t there. It was coiled underneath the chairs, so they knew it was alive, and they called me to come and remove it. The garage doors did have some gaps where it could get in and there were areas within this garage that it could have hidden for the majority of the winter without being seen. The whole property was on a desert hillside with miles and miles of desert surrounding it.
