As I exited the back door I noticed subadult atrox to my left underneath wire shelving unit. Snake had a curious disposition as it held its head up to observe me from underneath the unit. Snake would gently shake its rattle once or twice. It was a calm snake. Utilized tongs to capture and busker with no issue. Performed inspection of backyard. Backyard by and large neat. Some landscaping bushes where snake could potentially hide. Both side yards had gates where snake could easily have entered. Customer states they find a rattlesnake once every couple of years. Customer has already received a fence quote from RS. |

I noticed the head of a small adult atrox poking out from underneath a plastic brick. Removed plastic bricks with tongs and utilized tongs to capture snake and bucket with no issue. Snake was noted to be docile. Performed quick inspection of property. Large equestrian property. Property was as neat and tidy as one could be for large equestrian property. Several places for snakes to seek refuge underneath stall flooring, hay pallets, etc. property was bordered with brick wall on all sides with two gaits on each side of the house. I noted drainage holes in wall on western side of property that lead to a wash where I suspect snake came from. Customer stated they have had several rattlesnakes over the years and the father usually kills them but they were concerned for safety of the rattlesnake so they called RS. Customer stated they have a large gophersnake they see frequently on property. I provided education of the benefit of gophersnakes. I noticed several rodents while inspecting property. Pointed out the few points of entry into backyard and asked customer if they would like to be contacted for a free fencing quote and they agreed. |

I heard the snake rattling as I exited my vehicle. Observed an adult atrox that I believe was a gravid female in defensive posture in small alcove of house that faced NW. Snake continued to rattle and did so for the majority of the time I was with her until release. Utilized tongs to capture snake. Snake struck at tongs twice as I attempted to capture her. Once tonged I bucketed snake with no issue. Performed quick inspection of property. Several desert landscaping plants that were more or less maintained. No snakes observed. Provided education on snake behavior. I believe snake may have come from very small patch of desert just to the north of the street but was bordered by a busy main road to the north of that. There was small patch of desert behind customers home but house bordered by high block walls. Customer stated that this was the 2nd snake they’ve seen in several years with another being a coachwhip. Customer stated she’d like to have us do fencing but her SO wanted to do it on their own. Offered customer free quote from fence team but customer declined. |

Captured snake utilizing tongs without incident. Performed quick inspection of backyard. Large backyard with brick wall. House surrounded by desert. Drainage holes were covered with large grill material but I do not think snake was small enough to enter through here. Each side yard had two gates where snake may have entered. Yard had several lantanas and I provided customer education on snake behavior. Customer stated they often get Sonoran desert toads as well and asked if they are toxic to dogs which I acknowledged that they were. Offered customer a free fencing quote and they accepted. No other snakes found on property. |
