11:00 AM
Glendale 85310 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake There has been a mystery guest at the Arizona Model Railroading Society building who has been knocking over the model trains and causing havoc all over the layout for the past couple of weeks. Though they thought it was some neighborhood kids, the club members shrugged it off and put things back in place each week. Today the puzzling character revealed itself by laying on top of what is now dubbed "Rattlesnake Mountain." We were dispatched and able to safely remove the snake from his miniature mountain into a large, desert mountain preserve.

2:00 PM
Glendale 85310 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was picking up a package from the front porch when she noticed a rattlesnake behind a large ceramic vase. There is only one house in between this one and the dry New River riverbed. The home is also situated very close to the Thunderbird Conservation Park. After the capture, I searched for additional snakes as well as possible places where this one may have spent the winter. The backyard had a large gap under the gate, plenty of watered landscaping, and a pool. Notably, there was a large shed that sat slightly raised off the ground. This seemed like a great hiding place, but I was unsure if it was suitable for long-term protection from the cold. I did not find any other snakes.
