Phoenix 85029 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake Received call of a rattlesnake in patio closet. Arrived at a condominium complex and met customer at her back patio entrance. Shaw Butte was directly to the east of patio entrance with open habitat maybe 30 meters away. Was shown closet and told snake was underneath wire shelving unit. I moved some items and noticed a southwestern-speckled rattlesnake in an ambush in the corner just beneath the shelf. Moved some items around to clear space and then used hook to bring snake into the open where I utilized tongs to capture and bucket with no issue. Inspected rest of closet and porch with no other snakes found. Snake certainly entered from the patio door and found its way into the closet. I suspect it was preparing to hibernate.
