Scottsdale | 85266 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner saw her dog face-to-face with this Western Diamondback on the back porch. Fortunately, the snake did not bite the dog, and she was able to get the dog inside. When I arrived, the snake was still on the back porch. There was open-view fencing, drain blocks, and gaps under the double gate, providing multiple access points. The snake was relocated to a pack rat nest. |

Tucson | 85750 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This snake was found on the porch for the second time in a week. It was curled up behind a planter. There was lots of shade, no fence, and a wash directly adjacent to the property that ran down to the river. |

11:00 AM |
Queen Creek | 85144 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This was at a model home in a new community right off the mountain. The snake was coiled up behind a pot right by the front door. Oddly enough, almost one year to the day, I removed a rattlesnake from this exact spot. Behind this home is a preserve where they can’t build, but in front of it there used to be desert that is now divided into lots under construction. |

3:30 PM |
Scottsdale | 85259 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner had been seeing this snake over the last few days. This was also a gravid female that likely didn’t want to search all over in 117-degree heat for a cool place to stay. The yard had some vegetation, and the large patio provided a lot of shade. The home backed up to a small desert area between the neighboring houses, with a much larger expanse of desert just down the road. |

9:00 PM |
Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Customer reported seeing a snake in a planter approximately 15 minutes prior to arrival and was not actively monitoring it but still requested service. Upon arrival, I located a healthy adult western diamondback rattlesnake coiled in a flower pot, taking advantage of the cool, damp soil from recent watering performed by the customer when she discovered the snake. The snake was safely captured. I then searched the front yard thoroughly and found no additional snakes. |

7:00 AM |
Mesa | 85207 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowners first noticed the snake on the Fourth of July, when they had guests over and were rattled at by the snake in their front entryway. It was in the corner up against the home by the front door, where the house has a large overhang that creates a very shady area. There are rocks there that provide cover, and the snake was in the corner among them. The homeowners had not been using the front door, and they noticed the snake in the same spot again today, so they wanted it removed. Their home is right off a large wash that leads to a desert hillside on one side, and there is another desert hillside behind their home. Their yard is very large, with many well-watered plants and numerous places for snakes to take shelter from the heat. |

Florence | 85132 | Coachwhip | This was at a construction site. While we were working, a board was lifted and a black snake was spotted. The snake ended up falling into a deep hole that contained some equipment. After a lot of maneuvering, I was able to get the snake out from under the equipment. The site is surrounded by desert. |

Mesa | 85207 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner and children were in the pool when the children went to use the enclosed outdoor bathroom. They were surprised to find a rattlesnake in the shower. There was no seal at the bottom of the bathroom door. The home is newly built on a rocky mountainside. The property has a large yard with small, newly planted vegetation, a partial view fence, and several gates. |

Marana | 85658 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a western diamondback in their front courtyard, which was captured and removed. They expressed interest in fencing off their yard, which has a double gate that would also need to be secured, as well as a short brick wall that would likely require additional snake-proofing. |

Phoenix | 85048 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake curled up right outside her front door. When I arrived, the large western diamondback was still in the same spot, which made for an easy capture. There wasn’t much shade or cover in the front yard, so it was likely going to stay there all day until temperatures cooled enough for it to move around again. The snake was released into deep cover in a wash away from homes at a nearby trailhead in Ahwatukee. |

10:30 AM |
Phoenix | 85083 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowner called to report that a rattlesnake had disappeared into a bush in front of her home. She remained outside to ensure it did not leave that bush. The property was very difficult to locate, as the entrance to the dirt road is obscured by trees and overgrowth. Upon arrival, it was clear that the property is a rattlesnake paradise: acres of overgrown ground cover, bushes, and trees, along with a running hose that had been soaking the ground for hours at midday. I recommended clearing all ground cover to at least 6 inches high, or she will continue to see snakes. She will notify the groundskeeper. The property is also adjacent to a mountain and a nature preserve. |

Using an empty trash can, she contained the snake and moved the can into the shade, where the snake was later retrieved. Scottsdale | 85255 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowner reported a rattlesnake by the front door. Upon arrival, the snake was found curled up in the front door corner. Scottsdale | 85255 | Longnosed Snake | The homeowner walked into the garage and was greeted by a snake. They were unable to identify it or take a picture, but reported that it was black, yellow, and red. It turned out to be a long-nosed snake that was hanging out inside the garage. There were gaps in the corners where the garage door closed, which was the likely entry point. The snake was hand-captured and released nearby on the rocky bank of a wash. |

We ran water into the pipe but nothing emerged. When I arrived, there were three Mediterranean house geckos piled on top of one another. This was a new, young homeowner who had just bought the house and felt very bad about the geckos and what he thought was a snake. He is going to research alternative means of pest control so this doesn’t happen again, by his own determination of the situation, which was a win. The geckos were safely taken out of the glue trap with oil and released. |
