Queen Creek 85140 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was on his back patio when he heard a rattle. A few feet from the patio, he had chicken wire along the pool fence and noticed a large rattlesnake stuck in it. This rattlesnake was very thick and was caught about halfway down its body. I was able to safely remove it, and the snake was not harmed. The homeowner’s yard offered many potential hiding spots for snakes, including junk piles, a large shed, and heavy rodent activity. The home was also very close to a large area of state land desert.

A large drainage ran through the community from the desert, just one house away.

Litchfield Park 85340 Mojave Rattlesnake Received call about rattlesnake in the backyard. Arrived at the property and was met by customers who escorted to the backyard. Husband was in the backyard watching the snake. Noted an adult scutulatus in defensive posture in the gravel on west side of yard. Used gentle tongs to capture snake without issue. Inspected the remaining backyard and no other snakes found. Customer stated their dog was outside who alerted them of the snake’s presence. Customer stated when he first saw the snake it was against the wall of the north side of yard. Customer stated the snake slowly made its way to where I observed it while he waited for my arrival. Snake was noted to be mellow but observant. Snake did not rattle until it was secured in the bucket. Snake was older as evidenced by sizable and uniform rattle. Yard was not large and was kept neat and mostly free of anything a snake could seek refuge long term. Upon inspection the customer pointed out two areas in the block wall that had sizable gaps in the masonry one of which I suppose a snake may have been able to get through but not easily. I suspect the snake likely entered through the gate of the side yard on the north end of the property as this is where the snake was moving towards once it was discovered. There was desert access in the neighborhood however it was ten houses to the east. Informed customer that I believed the snake entered through the gate and offered free fencing quote. Customer stated he was a contractor and would patch the gate himself. Side yard on the west end of the property had a few patches of fountain grass with a condenser drain between them with water puddling up. Pointed this out to customer encouraged customer to remove the grass as it was invasive and it would eliminate a hiding spot for a snake.

He was not home, but some workers were in the yard and sent him a video of the snake crawling under some fake turf that he had just removed and stored on the side of the house. The backyard had a pool and well-maintained bushes, but the stacks of turf on the side yard were still wet from the rain last night, providing great cover to escape the heat of the day. I took the snake to a nearby trailhead and released it into deep cover in a rocky wash away from homes.

She lives on the edge of the community, with a large expanse of desert to the west, and her yard now has very little vegetation. Her dog was bitten by a rattlesnake last year, and since then she has cleared out most of her yard. She put up fencing herself because, she said, her HOA would not allow us to install it. Tucson 85745 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake They had a previous fencing quote and reached out for a new one via email but still asked me to have people contact them about fencing. The snake was on their front porch, they previously had 7 in their yard but probably due to reducing available water and trimming the plants they had discouraged more snakes from the area and so I was only able to find a single diamondback.

Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowners’ pest company first saw the snake and watched it slither into a hole on the back side of his grill island. He went to cover the hole when he saw a snake’s head coming out and thought there were two snakes. The snake was in a brick, not in the actual island itself, but more in the wall of it. The hole was due to erosion and wasn’t supposed to be there. I put water into the hole for about 30 minutes and the snake finally came out. I don’t think there were ever two snakes. The home has some desert directly behind it and much more throughout the community.
