I moved all the boxes and found both the western diamondbacks and one had shed its skin under there so they have probably been there awhile. They have a brick fence all the way around and an RV gate. They live really close to the open desert.

12:00 AM		 Peoria 85383 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake I received a call about a rattlesnake in the customer’s front courtyard. The customer sent a picture, and I confirmed it was an atrox. I arrived at home and was greeted by the customer and several others. The customer pointed out the snake. I observed a small atrox in ambush beneath the downpipe and between a concrete lip and a drainage hole in the wall of the courtyard that was covered with 1/4 wire mesh. I used a hook to coax the snake out of the tight area and used tongs once it was out to capture it and put it in a bucket without incident. I performed an inspection of the rest of the courtyard and front yard. The yard had several overgrown lantanas and what looked like a salix hedge, with a decent amount of leaf litter beneath. I pointed these out to the customer and provided education on snake behavior. The customer had installed 1/4 mesh on courtyard gate, which was not secured. I believe snake had entered courtyard through the gate where they spotted it. I asked the customer if they’d like a free quote from the fencing team and they agreed. Performed an inspection of garage which was tidy. No other snakes found.

It’s a very long grill island, so he was in there when he heard a rattle and saw the snake coiled at the end. He scooted out, and I was able to crawl in there and grab it. Across the street from the home, a lot of desert has been destroyed for new builds.

7:00 PM		 Peoria 85383 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about a rattlesnake on back patio. Arrived at home, greeted customers at the door and was escorted to back patio area. Customer stated their children first noticed it and that it had gone underneath the grill cover which was on the ground. Lifted up cover and observed a young atrox in ambush. Not a neonate but I’m not certain it was a yearling either. Used giant tweezers to capture snake and place in bucket with no issue. Inspected backyard. Yard was neat and tidy with few if any places for a snake to seek refuge. Two points of entry to backyard. The side gate on the east side of the house and lattice cinderblock for drainage in the wall on the west side of the home. I suspect snake entered through the latter as it was closest to desert wash. Inspected front yard and noticed no snakes. Offered to inspect the garage and found no snakes. Customer stated this is 2nd rattlesnake they’ve seen in their yard with the first one being in September of 2022. Customer showed me video of that snake and I confirmed it was an adult atrox. Offered customer for the fence team to reach out for a free estimate. Customer agreed and stated they were also interested in dog training.
