Peoria | 85383 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Arrived at customers home and heard snake rattling on front patio before I stepped out of my vehicle. As I walked up to the front door I noticed a small adult male atrox in defensive posture rattling. Customer would later state that they noticed the snake near the garage in the east side of home and walked right next to it before it started rattling. Used tongs to capture snake with no incident. Snake was noted to rattle from the time I arrived until I released it. Performed an inspection of front and backyard. Both yards kept neat and tidy. Backyard was surrounded by brick wall with only two points of entry which was side gait and drainage hole on opposite sides. Pointed these both out to customer and offered free fencing quote to which he declined. I believe snake came from desert to the north via small wash that ran to the west of the property. House was second from the corner. Provided education on snake behavior. |

Peoria | 85383 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake at Paloma Park in Peoria. Arrived and was told to park near ranger trucks with lights on. Was shown where snake was. Saw young adult atrox in landscaping vegetation on the west side of restroom building. Snake underneath justicia bush that provided deep cover. There was a large crowd of onlookers. Got a partial visual on snake and used tongs in first attempt to capture. There were larger rocks underneath justicia providing areas for snake to escape to. Lost sight of snake but heard it rattle continuously. Used tongs to raise up bush in attempt to get visual for several minutes. I eventually spotted black and white bands and quickly used tongs to capture them. Once I tinged it I noticed it strike tongs several times as I got it into the bucket. Upon arrival, the snakes had moved under boxes of leftover tiles but had separated from each other. They were bucketed and released into some large boulders up a hillside. |

Peoria | 85383 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received call from an assisted living facility I had visited in August 2023. Customer stated there was a baby rattlesnake in the back of property. When I arrived staff greeted me and checked me into the facility as a contractor. Staff then escorted me to area where snake was. Once outside to a patio where I heard faint rattle of the snake. I observed a juvenile atrox in defensive pose underneath a gas grill. Patio was facing NW towards river bottom. Utilized tongs to capture snake which struck once at tongs. Once bucketed staff asked to take photos and did so from a safe distance. Staff stated that the residents of the facility have been doing a walking club and one was getting extra steps in shortly before they called when they saw the snake near the door to the patio. Staff came out when atrox moved to underneath the grill approximately 15ft away. Performed quick inspection of immediate area and noticed no other snake. I informed staff that I suspected snake came from New River as it borders a little more than half of the property in the north and west sides. The previous snake I relocated from here was a neonate. |

Peoria | 85383 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call from customer stating that their daughter who was at home noticed a diamondback ant their back patio door and ran inside. Customer stated they were not on the property and were currently driving there. Customer text me photo of the snake and I confirmed it was a smaller atrox. Customer stated their daughter was home and to enter through the side yard once there. I arrived at property as customers were and they escorted me out back. Very large backyard on a corner lot. Desert wash runs south and east of property with long fence line facing open habitat. I did initial sweep of backyard without noticing any snake. Upon second pass I moved floor moldings away from stucco wall and noticed small atrox in ambush against stucco wall behind a pump sprayer. Utilized tongs to capture snake. Snake struck at tongs but otherwise captured and bucketed without incident. Snake did not rattle much. Performed another walkthrough inspection of yard. Customers doing some renovation on home and had piles of tiles and other materials around both front and back yard. Pointed these out to customer and provided education on snake behavior and how snakes will seek any space they can as refuge even if the materials had only been laying out for a short time. Pointed out large bougainvillea and lantana at edge of driveway and end of the wall that bordered the east side separating it from a wash. Advised to keep these plants trimmed or get rid of entirely. The wash that bordered the east side of property was strewn with small boulders that lead to a culvert under the street. Pointed tear out to customer as potential areas for snakes to hide/den. Customer inquired about chemical products to keep snakes away. I provided education in how these along with sonic/vibrational products do not work and advised customers to consider fencing.
