They just moved in last September so this is there first ever snake season and first rattlesnake they have seen. There yard has mesh fence on it but not snake proof. They would definitely like a quote. They have a view fence that back up to the mountain.

It had squeezed into a crevice when I arrived so I watered it out. The house backs up to south mountain. They have fencing but gaps and they are ok with it.

The homeowners have “snake fencing “ from critter control. I walked the yard and found several big gaps in the fence. Also, it may not be high enough. The RV gate has a broom-like material under it to keep snakes out but is ineffective. There is a gate in the Courtyard that has no protection. Besides that their yard is well kept. They just live really close to the open desert.

Checked all bushes big and small, identified some points of entry and recommended 1 very large bush be taken out/trimmed. Construction in neighboring area likely displaced the diamondback in question. Probably coming from large drain holes leading to construction area. Would recommend blocking them off but there are so many other ways for them to get in probably not going to be very effective.

She then notice a speckled rattlesnake in a wash by her side yard. The speckled was just hanging out I got that one. The atrox was on the move and unfortunately went into the desert before I arrived. She showed me a picture and it appears to be a gravid female. Her house backs up to a nice wash at south Mountain. She has a very short view fence. I have been to her house before for a speckled rattlesnake at the front door. She is interested in fencing.

Tonight it was drinking out of there pond. The snake went into there neighbors yard while I drove over I searched her yard then happened to look over her fence into the open desert and saw the snake coiled up. They said the snake they saw was a lot bigger. There back yard is desert then a golf course and then south mountain. They have a view fence and are interested in fencing. They haven’t seen a snake in the 30 years since they lived there.

I checked the front and backyard, the house has a corridor next door that accesses the desert. I found an approx 24" Mohave crossing the driveway 2 doors down. It was calm and did not rattle or strike during pickup or release

There was nothing in the yard found that could support rattlesnake life during the hot part of the summer so I suspect it was the construction across the street and subsequent displacement of the snake that caused her to be here. They have lived here for 18 years without seeing a snake so this is most likely.

The owner said that the last time they had us over was last fall and our agent did not find the snake but found multiple small rattlesnake shed skins in the exact same spot. I am assuming it is the same animal coming back to give birth again. I released it into nearest suitable habitat in deep cave. He is interested in having someone come for an estimate, but he seems to only be interested in having the gate done. He has 1/4” mesh but it is only 24” high. I advised that he will likely need something higher. Explained the “snake trap” concept to him.
