The snake was a coachwhip and its bottom half was stuck on something in the dryer. I’m not sure if by her turning it on made it get tangled but it appeared to have a broken back and I’m not sure it’ll survive. This was a three-foot snake, and the vent on the outside of the home was on the ground, and the cover fell off. That’s how it got in. There was a lot of desert surrounding this house.

Began moving stuff around and was able to locate the snake underneath an old bed frame. The young Western Diamondback was a long way from home as this area is mostly developed at this point and has very little survivable habitat. I took the snake a few miles away and found a nice little cave in the side of a small drainage where it should have a much better chance of surviving.

They were not sure if it was dead and they did not want to check. When I arrived, I had her open the garage door and found that the head of the snake was stuck in a glue trap just inside of the door. I used a little vegetable oil and gently removed the snake from the trap. I searched the rest of the garage and did not find any additional snakes. This home was in El Mirage and not near any sort of healthy native habitat.
