Surprise | 85374 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The customer had stated on the call that there was a juvenile rattlesnake on her front porch in the corner and had been coiled there for a decent amount of time, unsure of the species, but would watch it until my arrival. Upon my arrival, the snake had not moved and was identified as a baby western diamondback. The customer had stated this wasn’t their first snake call and had used our company in the past, as well as for our fencing for their backyard. The snake was most likely there due to recent construction in the neighborhood/suburban expansion and being pretty close to a desert preserve. Once the snake was removed from the property, I drove out of the community and parked on the side of a desert preserve. I hiked this juvenile into the preserve, walked down a wash a decent distance to ensure it wouldn’t find its way back to a street. I then released it into a pack-rat hole under some large shrub and it went in right away. |

Sun City | 85373 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Dispatched to a call in Peoria/Sun City for a snake in a backyard. While speaking to the customer on the phone, she reported that she was watering her plants when she noticed a coiled “diamondback” underneath one of them. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the customer and led into the east-facing backyard, where she pointed out the snake’s location. I observed a juvenile Western Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) in an ambush position underneath a hibiscus with a drip line. I used large tongs to safely capture the snake and place it in a bucket without incident. The snake may have been sleeping, as it did not rattle at any point. The customer stated that she first saw the snake in the same spot where I captured it, while watering that particular plant. She mentioned that she normally does not hand-water that plant but decided to do so this morning. She also reported that the snake did not rattle or move; she simply noticed it lying there. I conducted an inspection of the rest of the backyard and found no additional snakes. There is a catwalk running to the south of the property from the street to a community pond located east of the home. One small portion of the fence has chicken wire attached. I pointed this area out to the customer and offered a free fencing quote, which they accepted. This house is in an unusual location for C. atrox activity, as it is in the interior of the neighborhood, with approximately five rows of houses in every direction before reaching any desert habitat. I noted that the neighborhood is enclosed by solid block walls with no obvious drainage holes, and is bordered by two main roads to the north and west. For a snake to reach this property from natural desert, it would have to travel a considerable distance. While not impossible, this seems unlikely. Given the estimated age of the snake, I suspect it may have been born somewhere within the neighborhood and has managed to survive there for a little over a year. I do not believe the snake had been in the yard for long, as I saw no signs of denning. I believe it may have entered the yard from either the north or south side via drainage gaps or a gate. The customers stated they have never seen a snake in the 10 years they have owned the home. Considering the home’s location, I do not think it is unreasonable to assume this may have been the first snake to enter their yard. |

Sun City | 85373 | Nightsnake | The homeowner woke up to her living room being a mess from her cat. She noticed her cat trying to catch something then saw it was a snake. She put a trash bin over it not knowing what it was. It was a nightsnake and was not harmed by the cat. The doors were all sealed well but she does leave the back patio open sometimes for the cat. She lives off a golf course and has a little desert behind her . |

Sun City | 85373 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner\'s son was jumping on his trampoline when he noticed a rattlesnake coiled up nearby. He calmly alerted his parents who then called us to remove the snake. The brick wall around the back yard was the only thing separating the home from the very large Agua Fria riverbed. There was plenty of dense, overgrown landscaping, stacks of wood and brick, and easy access to the front yard. The snake could have very likely spent the winter sheltered somewhere on the property. I did a thorough search but did not find any other snakes. |

Waddell | 85355 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Arrived to customer’s home and was escorted to the back patio. Customer pointed out a small mini fridge that had not been used for some time and was unplugged. Customer said they saw snake the previous day and it was half sticking out from underneath fridge. The back of the fridge was facing towards me and there was 1/4” mesh attached to the lower back half presumably to keep critters out. After a few glances I noticed a large atrox in ambush in the corner of the fridge. Snake had perched itself on a bottom panel so it was not on the ground. So if I were to tip the fridge on its side, the snake would have tipped up with it. Used power drill to remove one side of the mesh. Since the snake was in a tight area where tongs would not have worked, I used the tongs to hold back the mesh while I used hook to retrieve and bucket the snake without incident. Customer stated they thought the snake they saw was bigger than the one I captured. Snake was docile and did not rattle. Did an inspection of backyard. Very big yard. At least an acre. Rural/agricultural area. Many areas in the yard where snakes can seek refuge or den. Woodpiles, garden areas, overgrown plants, trim piles, etc. Fencing would not be appropriate for yard. Provided customer with education on snake behavior and pointed areas I was most concerned with. |

Waddell | 85355 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake that was coiled up next to a potted plant just outside of a gate leading to the front yard. The snake had rattled at him as he was exiting to the driveway. The home is located very close to the desert with lots of great snake habitat. * The home already had snake fencing installed when the current owner moved in. He wanted someone to come out to the house and do an assessment of the current fence to see if it needs any maintenance. This snake was found outside of the current fencing. |

Waddle | 85355 | Mojave Rattlesnake | A real estate company called from a new development and reported a small/baby Rattlesnake in the front entrance of the model home. The very kind agent felt comfortable enough to place a wire trash can over the small snake and place a rock over top before we could get out to them, she even took lengths to pour water on the sides for the snake during its wait for relocation. Once I had arrived I was directed to the shaded entrance where the snake was contained, and lifted the trash can to gently transfer the rattlesnake into the bucket for transport. I walked around the rest of the model home and inspected for further snakes with no others found. The community is full of new construction within an ideal desert habitat running along the White Tanks Preserve area. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner was remodeling his home when he took out a wall and saw a rattlesnake coiled inside. This is an old home and it has a basement. There was a hole on the outside of the stucco that allowed the rattlesnakes to get in. There ended up being two snakes, both snakes were coiled right by one another. He found two snakes skins further down the wall earlier. The home has nothing but miles of desert around it. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This lady was having work done in an underground room that had the water heater in it. The guy doing the work opened the door and instantly got rattled at. He dropped his things and got out of there. When I walked in the snake did rattle and then I saw it on a near by shelf about eye level. The snake had shed its skin down there and was probably getting cozy for winter. The home had a lot of desert around it and plenty of places on the property for a snake to hide, like a workshop that wasn’t sealed well and lots of stacked debris. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner saw a sidewinder in her backyard yesterday afternoon, but it had gone into a rodent hole by her chicken coop. She tried watering it out but it didn’t show its face again. Today she was watering it out again and she saw a head poke out and it ended up being a gophersnake so she kept that one. We never did see the sidewinder. She has a large acre lot but there isn’t any vegetation on it. She does have a shed and shipping container in the back yard that I looked under as best I could. The fence is all mesh around the yard. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Sidewinder | Rattlesnake observed at the job site near the delivery office. The crew had been watching it; it remained in the same spot for several hours before they decided to call. The listed address is inaccurate and was only used because it is the closest one to the site. The job site is in the early stages of construction and is surrounded by open desert on all sides, with no homes nearby. The sidewinder appeared to be a healthy female, though relatively small for its age (estimated to be several years old based on the rattle). It did not strike or rattle and seemed quite tired, though in my experience this species tends to be more docile when captured. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Mojave Rattlesnake | This tiny sidewinder who couldn’t be more than a very under year old, was found at a large solar panel construction site. It was released into a large well fed wash. There was a large tree at the side of the wash with a plethora of pat rack nest and ground squirrel holes. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Mojave Rattlesnake | Rattlesnake in a machine part in a "cubby hole"; they were watching it. Arrived and found a large adult Mojave rattlesnake sitting under a shipping container. Captured the snake. Was made aware that a baby had also been seen. After a few minutes of waiting, a small neonate Mojave rattlesnake emerged from under the container and was captured using tweezers. Waited a bit longer and flushed the hole with a bucket of water; no other snakes emerged. Reports from other workers indicate the other babies had already dispersed. |
