Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call of a rattlesnake in front porch from a previous customer. Arrived to home and was greeted by the customer in the driveway. Customer stated that as he left the front door to go to his car he heard a small “tick” and noticed the snake on the front door. Customer kept eyes on the snake until I arrived. I noticed a large juvenile atrox underneath some hiding to the right of the front door. Utilized large tweezers to capture snake as hit still seemed almost neonate as there were only 2 buttons. It seemed large for its age. Asked customer if he’d like me to inspect and he seemed indifferent as his home is almost entirely surrounded by habitat. I offered to inspect garage and he agreed. Garage was cluttered with signs of rodent activity all over (as well as the front porch where snake was found). Found no snakes upon brief inspection but I didn’t inspect it as thoroughly as I could have. Customer didn’t seem concerned. Since home was completely surrounded by habitat and no back fence it did not seem appropriate to offer fencing quote. |

12:00 PM |
Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Arrived at the customer’s home for a call about two rattlesnakes in the front yard. The family was gathered in the driveway with several children present. The customer pointed to a cassia bush, where I observed two smaller adult Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes (C. atrox) locked in mating. The snakes appeared aware of the crowd but remained locked, with the male twitching his head. I secured the area and used tongs to lift one snake and a hook to lift the other, providing additional support. I placed the bucket in the shade and then inspected both the front and back yards. The home has a wash directly to the east that runs up a hill into open habitat. The front yard and the mouth of the wash blend together, and this is where the snakes were found. No additional snakes were found on the property. The backyard was generally neat and tidy, with few areas where a snake could hide for long. The customer has one small dog. The backyard is enclosed by a high block wall, with one gate on the west side. The customer has installed a framed screen directly in the gate opening, requiring anyone entering the yard to step over it. The side yard on the west side of the house has drainage blocks, which I pointed out to the customer as a potential access point. I offered a free fencing quote, but the customer did not respond to the offer. |
