5:00 PM		 Phoenix 85045 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was out on the back patio for a while sitting on the couch and when she went in she glanced behind the couch and saw the rattlesnake coiled up. The yard didn’t have much in it but they did have watered grass. The home also had a large drainage in front of it that led straight to South Mountain. They had a view fence with a closed-down golf course behind them.

12:00 AM		 Anthem 85086 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The owner of a home in Anthem called after first hearing and then seeing a rattlesnake on her back patio. The home is in Anthem not far from a large area of native desert. The yard was full of mature landscaping and had several water features including a pool. There was a block wall surrounding the yard with a double gate on one side and a drain with mesh on the other. The snake was coiled up just outside of the sliding glass back door when I arrived. No other snakes were found.

7:30 PM		 Mesa 85215 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A homeowner in Mesa called about a large diamondback in her front yard. The snake was curled up in the rocks next to the driveway when I arrived. Relatively new neighborhood and this was a large old male so he’s unfortunately suffering from habitat loss due to development. Hopefully, the rest of this area stays desert.

8:00 PM		 Tucson 85741 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Mature atrox found in customers backyard near trash bins. Looks like it had been digesting a meal from a few days prior. Customer stated it was the first snake they had seen in three years that they had lived there. Very developed area near a wash but not much suitable habitat other than that. Nothing appealing about the customers backyard either so was likely just passing through or digesting.

8:00 PM		 Tucson 85718 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake I was notified by the homeowner that her dogs startled the western diamondback rattlesnake that found cover on their front porch. No dogs were injured or bitten. She called us and the snake was in the corner of her front porch area next to some potted plants. I safely removed the snake and upon inspection noticed where the snake could have entered the property. They already had chicken wire along their fence but it had faults, homeowners declined a fence referral.

12:30 AM		 Tucson 85745 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The customer called to report they had seen a large rattlesnake in their Arizona room earlier that morning, as the door had been left open. I arrived around midnight and the snake had left the room. After searching around the yard I was able to locate a large western diamondback rattlesnake which had climbed up into an ocotillo in the back yard. The yard is well guarded from the nearby desert with a lot of plants and places for snakes to hide. I spotted a small gap at one side-fence where the snake likely made entry and couldn't figure out how to leave.

12:30 AM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A security guard at an apartment complex in Scottsdale called about a large Diamondback on the property. This massive old male was cruising around the property the entire time I was on my way. Unfortunately, this entire area is being developed so the desert that this old man used to call home is no longer there. I had to relocate him a bit further than I would like but kept it as close as possible to the capture site.

8:00 AM		 Tucson 85745 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was trimming a bougainvillea in her backyard when she noticed movement around the leaf litter at the roots. Recognizing a black-and-white ringed tail she called us to come get what she thought was a rattlesnake. Her dog had been bitten in this yard before. When I arrived i found what looked to be a 3-5 year old female Western Diamondback Rattlesnake coiled beneath the plant. I gently pulled at various coils to get her out and instead of rattling she just patiently pulled back. Eventually, she’d had enough and emerged from the shelter of the plant and began to rattle. This allowed me to gently put her into the bucket.

9:00 AM		 Peoria 85383 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The owner of a home in Peoria called after seeing a rattlesnake on her back patio through the glass door. Her dog saw it was well and was barking and growling at it through the glass. When I arrived, the snake had moved into a nearby Lantana. The snake was large, extremely stressed, and was not easy to get into the bucket. I searched the rest of the yard, which had a lot of thick, overgrown Lantana and Heather. The yard had a long view-fence overlooking a wash. It had standard chicken wire installed as a snake-fence which had a lot of integrity issues. There were two gates leading to the backyard, both of which were not secure. I did not find any other snakes, but warned the homeowner of the attractiveness of her yard to snakes and made recommendations to mitigate future encounters.

10:00 AM		 Phoenix 85041 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The landscaper spotted the snake coiled in the shady corner on the back patio. This home had an open backyard that had the South Mountain Preserve behind it. In 16 years he’s only had four snakes which for having the desert right behind him isn’t too bad. He didn’t have much vegetation in the ground. A lot of his plants were in pots.

A storm was coming in and the snake ended up slithering to the front yard and that’s where I got it. The home didn’t have any plants in the yard but they did have a lot of desert across the street.

3:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85258 Western Diamondback and Coachwhip Karen had workers doing some yard work around her pool when they noticed a snake within her agave plant wedged between her pool and the fence. After taking a closer look, they noticed there were two: a coachwhip and a rattlesnake literally right next to each other. Karen also had snake fencing that was installed by the previous owner. Upon inspection, i noticed many areas where rats dug under that potentially created an entryway for the snakes.

8:30 AM		 Phoenix 85024 Western Diamondback The pest guy saw the mother Diamondback coiled up by the AC unit. When I went to grab her, she zipped into a nearby large hole going under the foundation of the home. This hole went deep. I put a hose in there, and after about 20 minutes of water, I got the mother. When I went to get the hose to put it away, I saw a baby rattlesnake come out of this hole. I then continued watering for an hour, and finally it flooded up, and I retrieved five baby rattlesnakes. The home has a view fence and is on a desert hillside with more desert around the corner.

Home owner sent me a photograph to identify but could not be more specific than that it was not a rattlesnake, and gave the option to leave it in place or have us out. Home owner opted to have us come out, where it was discovered that the snake was actually a Tiger Whiptail, looking to be displaced and a bit rough from recent rainfall.
