3:30 PM		 Mesa 85207 Sonoran Gophersnake Caller reported a Gophersnake stretched along the home’s exterior wall. The snake remained between the wall and the cinderblock perimeter wall. I was able to reach in and grab the snake from the void. No additional snakes recovered.

3:30 PM		 Anthem 85086 Sonoran Gophersnake A tenant at an apartment complex called saying that he had seen two rattlesnakes in a common area near the front of his building. I arrived to find the man standing in front of a small bush. He told me that he had watched the snakes crawl into the bush and that he had been watching it ever since. I immediately saw that it was not two rattlesnakes but just one gopher snake. This was actually the second consecutive call for me, in which two rattlesnakes ended up being just one gophersnake. This apartment complex was in a heavily developed area near a busy intersection in North Phoenix, not far from I-17. It was also close to a large wash that led out into the native desert. I did not ask if he wanted to leave it, deciding that it was not a safe area for any snake to be.

5:00 PM		 Paradise Valley 85253 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner just moved in a short while ago. He called about a rattlesnake in the backyard. Upon arrival, I was able to identify the snake as a Sonoran Gophersnake. The yard has SOME protective measures taken, but the homeowner would like to have the fencing team come out and quote to seal it properly. No additional snakes were recovered.

2:00 PM		 Peoria 85383 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner was startled when she saw a gophersnake in her backyard near her pool. In a panic, but not intending to harm the snake, she managed to trap it by pinning its tail under the foot of a lawn chair. When I arrived, the snake was still pinned. The chair was not heavy, and it had only pinched the very end of the tail leaving a small impression. Holding the snake, I was able to get a closer look at its tail. There were no lesions or bleeding, and the snake was acting quite normal. The home is in a Peroia neighborhood situated very close to a mountain preserve, with several natural drainages running through out. The back yard had a pool, but no landscaping or irrigation. There was a typical arrangement of patio furniture, potted plants, and a grill. Gaps under and around her gate as well as a drain in the block wall were plenty big enough for a snake twice its size to easily enter or exit. The homeowner was interested in having these entry points covered with snake fencing. I searched the rest of the property and did not find any other snakes.

10:00 AM		 Mesa 85207 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner heard something in her garage last night but didn’t see anything. When she looked this morning she saw the big gophersnake in the corner of her garage and its head was stuck in a sticky trap. The garage was sealed well, but she said she leaves the garage door open all the time. I was able to get the snake off the trap unharmed. She has a little desert drainage behind her home and also a golf course nearby.

12:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called because they had a snake in their backyard eating quail eggs. Before calling us, they shot the snake with a pellet gun only injuring it and it disappeared into to some landscaping rocks. I flooded the rocks with water and we found the snake on the other side of the wall. It had found a way under the wall through the rocks. The snake was observed for a couple of days and after recovering it was released into deep cover.

9:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake I was dispatched a call for a snake under trash can. Customer sent picture of snake’s head peaking out from underneath the trash can and I confirmed it was a gophersnake. Snakes neck/throat appeared extremely pinched underneath the can and I assumed it was dead but customer still wanted us to grab it. Met customer’s in the side yard where they pointed out the snake. Snakes head appeared the same as in pictures. Once I tilted the dumpster up the snake bolted and I was able to capture it with my left hand. Snake struck my left hand but no injury. I bucketed snake and performed inspection of the rest of the yard. There were two areas in the yard when quail chicks had recently hatched and I suspect the reason why the snake was in the yard. No other snakes found.

11:00 AM		 Phoenix 85054 Sonoran Gophersnake This caller had called last week for a rattlesnake removal. Today, she saw a large Sonoran Gophersnake near her front door. She and the neighbor were able to watch it while I was en route. The snake was hunkered down under a large bougainvillea bush when I arrived. I was able to remove the snake without incident.

During inspection I was able to locate the snake by the front office door. The snake was removed without incident and no other snakes were recovered.

11:00 AM		 Phoenix 85032 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner heard her dog barking an odd bark and looked to see a large yellow snake slither into a rosemary up by her house in the back yard. I saw a large hole under the rosemary so I started to water it out. The snake came out and instantly started to drink a lot of water. It was a big healthy gophersnake. The home was a block down the road from the preserve. The heaviest vegetation in the yard was the rosemary which she said rabbits live in.

The yard was previously sealed by us but we found no breach points or areas of concern with fencing. Did not seem interested in renewing the warranty, as they have not had any issues in the past 5 years.

2:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The caller reported a snake moving through the rear yard. I arrived and the snake was under a bush and only slowly moving both due to being observed and having recently ingested a meal. This client has rattlesnake fencing and is no stranger to Rattlesnake Solutions. He was interested in how the snake may have entered the yard. I advised the client that these Gophersnakes are adept climbers and pointed out the most likely areas in which it could have made entry. I made recommendations to trim the branches protruding through the fencing along the back view fence. I also provided a theory that the snake could have climbed the bougainvillea that hugs the perimeter wall on the side of the house. No other snakes were recovered.

1:30 PM		 Peoria 85383 Sonoran Gophersnake The caller reported a large rattlesnake in her rear yard. Unfortunately, she lost track of the snake. I was able to locate the snake during the inspection. It had come to rest/hide in a void in the cinderblock wall. I was unable to get an in-situ photo due to the low light in the void. No other snakes were recovered. I advised the client to trim the bushes and address the rodent activity to reduce attractiveness of the yard to reptiles.

9:00 AM		 Scottsdale 85266 Sonoran Gophersnake Her landscapers saw the snake yesterday in her side yard, near her garden. It was tangled in some netting and she decided to call today to have it removed. Poor snake had been out there awhile thankfully the weather has been cool. The snake did have some scale damage where the netting was cutting into its body. It had a few eggs in its belly that got it hung up. The homeowner had a garden and backed up to a golf course with a view fence. There were patches of desert throughout the community.

7:00 PM		 Phoenix 85050 Sonoran Gophersnake We got a call from the homeowners saying that there was a snake in their garage. I arrived to find a very tidy, and uncluttered space. There was almost nowhere for a snake to hide, and I was quickly able to check the entire area. I wanted to see about the gaps in the corners of the door, so I had them close it again for me. As I was looking for small spaces where a snake could enter or exit, we spotted the snake wedged up in the sections of the door. With the door open, the snake had been suspended just above our heads the entire time. It was thankfully unharmed. I did not find any additional snakes on the property, which was close to open, native habitat as well as a golf course.

As well as a plethora of fruit trees. They have had rattlesnakes before, although, today it was just a sonoran gophersnake. Their neighbors have used our services so they decided to today and are interested in snake fencing for the future. Mostly block wall with side gate. Some areas where the block wall has gaps in corners.

4:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowners called stating that there was a snake in the bedroom that they contained under a small waste basket but were unsure of what kind of snake it was. They said that the snake was hissing and striking out at them so they were too afraid to lift the bucket to remove the snake on their own. When I arrived the snake was as described under a wastebasket. I slowly lifted the waste basket and was able to quickly identify that it was a Sonoran gopher snake which I easily captured and placed into a bag for relocation. The home is located in a semi-rural Cave Creek community surrounded by lots and lots of natural desert habitat and not far from a hiking area. The homeowner stated that they had once seen a snake come from the closet that contained the air heating and handling unit which goes up into the attic. It is open to the attic and there was lots of light coming in. I encourage them to either seal the closet that is in or to have someone go up into the attic and spray foam or seal any possible holes into the house and to look for other holes into the house as the homeowners were certain that they never left any doors open to the outside as they have a cat that is indoor only. The homeowners expressed interest in the snake fencing, but I was unable to go out to the backyard and check out what they were already working with. Since the snake was captured inside the home, a deeper conversation would need to be had to understand their wishes around that. Otherwise, I explained that gopher snakes are very good climbers while rattlesnakes are not. I then relocated the snake to the nearby slate trailhead. Not far up the street underneath a large boulder.

3:00 PM		 Phoenix 85022 Sonoran Gophersnake Caller reported a rattlesnake (identified by a family member) coiled by the front door. Upon arrival, I quickly identified the snake as a Sonoran Gophersnake. The snake was taking advantage of the shade and standing water in the potted plant overflow basin. The snake was removed without incident and no other snakes were recovered. The snake is missing a small portion of its tail and it has scarred over.

Not knowing what kind it was, he got the dog inside and watched the snake go behind a nearby paver that was leaned on the fence. It ended up being a gophersnake. They have lived in this home for 30 years without seeing a snake. The home had a grassy yard with very little vegetation. There was an elementary school across the street and a big drainage the lead to a desert hillside on the other side of the home.

6:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85259 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowners called stating they saw a yellow and striped snake that they could not identify calling along their wall. They insisted I come relocate the snake even though I assured them it was non-venomous and harmless. When I arrived, they reported that their neighbor came and took the snake for them to relocate it, but still wanted me to inspect the property for further snakes. I found an additional gopher snake after confirming the first snake was also a gopher snake. The Gopher snake that I found was climbing up some of their bushes along the back wall in their backyard. The home has an oasis of plant life as the homeowners are very into gardening. I gave them advice on trimming the bushes, thinner and up off the ground so that it didn't offer as much cover and homes for the snakes to find appealing. The home does have rattlesnake fencing along their gate and other areas but has a block wall. I did a thorough inspection of the front and backyard. The home is in a well-developed gated community, but it has lots of natural desert landscape and botany throughout the community that offers plenty of natural habitat as well as not being far from a local preserve and trail system. The snakes were both released together as they were suspected to be a mating pair. I had gotten in touch with the neighbor who is a local herper that I know well and we got to release the snakes as a pair

It was a gophersnake and she was relieved. There wasn't much desert around here but small pockets throughout the homes.

12:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner spotted what she believed to be a rattlesnake on the side of their home near where they keep their trash cans. When I arrived, I had to move a few miscellaneous items that had been stacked up awaiting trash day. I found a small gophersnake that quickly retreated into a gap in the blocks that made up the side wall and the gate. It only took a little bit of water from the hose to gently coax the snake back out. I got it in the bucket and searched the yard for others but found none. The home was located in a typical Cave Creek neighborhood with lots of native drainages running throughout. The back yard had a view fence that opened to one of these drainages, but the footer was several feet high. While this snake may have entered up and over it, it would be a challenge for a small to medium-sized rattlesnake. There were large gaps around the gate and a few in the block that any snake could enter or exit with ease. The homeowner asked that I remove the gopher snake for fear that her dog would harm it.

The home was located in a suburban neighborhood, miles from any native desert. The yard had plenty of irrigated landscaping, a pool, and grass. There were large gaps under the gate, as well as an open drain in the block wall. The snake was quickly removed, and no other snakes were found.

The snake was bedded down on the ground under a dense canopy of recently watered plants. The home was situated near a golf course and not far from a dry riverbed. I searched the rest of the yard, which had some very nice DIY fencing blocking off drain holes around the wall, but the gate leading to the front yard had a huge gap underneath that a snake of any size could easily enter. When I arrived I discovered that it was actually a large Gophersnake that was stuck to two glue traps and attempting to eat a large mouse that was stuck to another glue trap. I was able to free the snake relatively easily with cooking spray and the snake was unharmed. Home is right up against a desert preserve and the homeowner said that rats are able to access her bathroom sink via faulty piping under the home so the snake must have found its way inside the home that way.
