Mesa 85207 None Received call regarding rattlesnake in back yard. Arrived to property and was escorted to back yard, and showed area where customer last saw snake. Customer stated that he did not have eyes on the snake since he called the line 45+ minutes ago. Checked area and did not immediately see a snake. Performed thorough inspection of back yard. Large backyard that blended into surrounding habitat (Usery Mtn area). That is to say when the property was built there was a fence erected to contain the backyard and besides a pool area there was minimal landscaping. Many native brush plants like Encelia, Krameria erecta, Ambrosia deltoidea, Trixis californica, Parkinsonia, and Olneya. Minimal trimming done to plants as it was a desert backyard. Searched under all brush. There was a small bridge that went over a small wash that connected the patio to the rest of the yard. Searched under there and there were several deep holes that I could not get all the way to. Fence wad chicken wire 18” tall around it. More than a couple of areas where it was not buried but I’m certain snake could enter wherever it wanted. Pointed this out to customer and offered free fencing quote to which they never responded. Inspected parts of front yard and no snakes found. Customer stated that they saw the snake, it hissed loud and coiled up, and then the customer left the scene. I suspect it may have been a Gophersnake.

Phoenix 85085 None Received a call from employee at Fireside at Norterra about a rattlesnake hiding in bush near the pool @ 1121. Arrived at property approximately 40 minutes later. Staff pointed out area where snake was first spotted by children on the south side of building underneath an awning. Was shown bush where snake was last seen. It was a sizable rosemary bush. Utilized 2 hooks to prop apart branches and used flashlight to look into center of the bush. Did this in sections. I looked through the bush 3x before informing staff that there was no snake in the bush. I then preformed an inspection of the closest areas where snake may had moved and still found no snake. Inspected many Leucophyllum and hesperaloe plants but no snake found. Performed a brief inspection inside the pool area and still no snake found. I showed staff pictures of common colubrid snakes in the area but they stated the pictures did not look similar. A lifeguard passing by stated she didn’t see that snake but said someone who did said “it was either a rattlesnake or a bullsnake.” Informed staff that no snake was captured but if they see the snake later to call me and I would come back to remove it for free.

Scottsdale 85259 None The homeowners found a piece of a snake skin by a rock in their back yard. The skin wasn’t in good shape it was either a gophersnake or rattlesnake. Where the skin was there was a hole going under there patio. I watered it out but there is no way the water was getting to all the areas. I almost think the skin blew into their yard because it was a 3 inch section of a large snake and pretty tore up. I searched everywhere and no snake. The home has a view fence and they back up to a little desert area.

He isn’t sure how the big snake got in looked to be about 2 feet.

The management company called us and I went out no one was there at the time to watch the snake. I looked in the culvert and it wasn’t there anymore. I searched around and didn’t find the snake. This was a large property off a desert golf course. Where the snake was last seen was right by some dense desert. The property has a lot of boulders and good snake-hiding spots.

Gilbert 85203 None Received call from a customer stating that there was a rattlesnake inside of his neighbor’s house. Caller said that he lived on in a guest home on his neighbor’s lot and was calling for her. Customer stated snake got in from open front door. Arrived at property on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Reservation and was greeted by caller who showed me inside customer’s home. Greeted customer who was on the couch and she pointed to me where she first saw the snake near a rolled up carpet between living room and the kitchen. Customer stated she saw the snake and it “rattled and growled” at her. She stated she saw the snake go further into the kitchen behind refrigerator. Kitchen was structurally in disrepair and cluttered with empty cans and trash. Called assisted in clearing out the kitchen. There was a hole in the wall near the sink that lead to the outside. Looked under refrigerator, sink, and cabinets. Structural damage and rodent litter noted throughout. Finished up in the kitchen area and inspected the outside property. Property sits between 2 large agricultural fields and called stated it is flood irrigated. Many overgrown grasses and perennial plants around property. Poked my head under crawl space and noted a water leak from inside the home with water pooling. Pointed out all areas to caller and provided education on snake behavior. Performed quick inspection of the rest of the home. The rooms were packed with belongings and inaccessible for the most part. I suspect if there was a snake it may have been a gophersnake as the customer stated it was a yellow color and hissed. The owner of the home seemed like she may not have been fully aware of what was happening. Opted to not charge the customers and told the owner if she sees the snake again to call us.

Gilbert 85296 None Last night the resident saw a king snake by her door. A few weeks ago she had another king snake by her home as well. This is in a little community where all the homes are connected kind of like town homes. There is lots of well-watered vegetation and probably rodents around. I didn’t notice anything by her home specifically that would be a reason why the kingsnake was over there besides some rodent droppings by the AC unit, and her home backs up to a walkway area that leads to an open lot.

Scottsdale 85255 None The homeowner saw a rattlesnake in her backyard cruising by yesterday afternoon. She just got a puppy and was concerned it hadn’t left. Her yard wasn’t very big and the only good spot that was hidden was under three large planter boxes, right where she saw the snake yesterday. I watered out under these planters for a long time and nothing came out. Hard to say if there was a spot under there the snake could be without getting hit by water. She is going to keep an eye out. The home had a block fence and one gate.

6:30 PM
Chandler 85224 None The homeowner went to smoke on his front patio when he saw a snake. He quickly ran back inside, and when he went back out, it was gone. He said he thought it was a rattlesnake because it had diamonds. This is an area that would not get rattlesnake. I showed him a picture of a gophersnake and he said that might be it. I searched his whole yard and garage and didn’t find anything. His yard was pretty open in the front with little vegetation. He had a big shed in the back and a wood pile which I looked in best I could.

Scottsdale 85255 None The homeowner said she had a rattlesnake in her backyard a week ago, and I came out then but couldn’t find it. She has three large planters in the back yard which I thought it could be under. I put water under them but nothing. Today she saw the snake by the planters again, this time she took a video and it was a gophersnake. It went back under the planter and I tried watering it out but it would not come out. She’s ok with it now since it’s harmless.

Mesa 85212 None Daughter saw snake go towards fire pit, unsure of identification. I arrived and searched the area but no snake was found. Discussion revealed it was likely a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. Based on the habitat on the other side of the fence, it was likely from there and had returned to that area. Discounted service and said to call if it comes back.

Oro Valley 85737 Nine Customer had rattlesnake on back porch night before. Unfortunately husband killed. Customer wanted steps to securing backyard and going forward in preventative measures. Right off the bat the gates area had gaps making it easy for any rattlesnake to get through of any size. Also on other side of property holes were found in bottom of wall for drainage to go through. Customer only had one bush that would be suitable hiding habitat. She said it will be removed. Also explained that her pool equipment was a very possible area for another encounter because of the spaces for hiding and also a tree sat above it creating a shady area. It was also discussed that all dog feces be picked up immediately so that various rodent species do not utilize it for a food source. I also found a rodent hole leading underneath the air conditioner. I utilized a garden in an attempt to flood any remaining snakes in hiding. Nothing was found. End of report.
