Mesa | 85207 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner was out in the back yard with his dog when he saw his dog chase something into a lantana. He figured it was just a lizard but went over there and saw that it was a rattlesnake. He said the dog is fine and didn’t get bitten. The home has a view fence that backs up to some desert that leads right to the state land not to for away. They had a little garden next to that lantana that looked like it had just been watered. |

Phoenix | 85083 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowner called about a western diamondback rattlesnake curled up right outside their front door. The front of the house faces north, and the rattlesnake was curled up in a small planter with moist soil and lots of shade. Not much useful cover around the house, homeowners have everything pretty well maintained. This snake definitely found the best spot in town. Snake released into a large packrat nest away from homes but within the estimated home range. North Phoenix |

Tucson | 85704 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The customer discovered a snake on the shaded back porch resting on some soil where a drain pipe was being installed. Water was dripping from above onto the spot. After this adult (possibly female) WDB was contained, i investigated the backyard. There were piles of brush and some old cardboard boxes filled with various things, both of which would provide good cover for snakes or rodents. |

Peoria | 85383 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake on front porch. Customer stated this is the 3rd one they’ve had in a week after living in the home for 8 years and never seeing one before. Arrived at the home and noted atrox in ambush on the front porch near the door rattling. Utilized tongs to capture snake with no issue. Performed an inspection of the front and backyards with no other snakes found. There was access to habitat 1 house to the west and I suspect snake came from there. |

Peoria | 85383 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This snake was spotted coiled up by a door at an apartment complex. Staff said they had lost sight of it, but it was still coiled by the door when I arrived. The apartment complex was relatively new, and there was land all around the community that had been bulldozed and was being prepared for development. The surrounding desert in this area was very sparse. I relocated the snake away from the ongoing building and development. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | A man called about a rattlesnake on his back patio. When I arrived, the snake had moved a short distance to shelter under an outdoor couch. Once I had it in the bucket, I walked around his yard to look for other snakes and possible points of entry. The property is in the middle of a large development but has a natural drainage running right behind the house. The homeowner has some 1/4‑inch fence installed, but I found a few areas where it was compromised and a snake could have easily entered. He said he would like to be contacted for fencing. No other snakes were found. |

It then went into a wall gap between the home and fence. After that they lost sight of it. There was a hole going under the cement so I put some water in there from a hose and the snake came right out. This facility was surrounded by desert with what looked like a well watered yard at least in the front. |

Surprise | 85378 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | A woman called about a rattlesnake coiled up on the side of her house. She was afraid she would lose sight of it as it started to move through some old boxes stored outside. It ended up hiding inside a narrow, square box until I arrived. I moved the box with my tongs to an open area and gently tipped it until the snake came out. I was then able to get it into the bucket. I performed a full walk-around of the yard, which had lots of cover, clutter, and water sources from a pool and irrigation, but no other snakes were found. The snake likely entered through the gate or the poorly screened drainage hole in the wall. The property bordered the eastern side of the Agua Fria River bed. |

Phoenix | 85048 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The landscapers spotted the snake in an irrigation box by the house. They left the lid off and had to leave, but the snake didn’t move far. It was found coiled up against the home in the shade. I removed a rattlesnake from this home last week from the same general area in the front yard. The neighbor has a running fountain, which may be attracting the snakes, and they appear to be choosing the shade along this home to coil. The home backs up to a desert hillside, and in front there is a large drainage area that leads to more desert. The irrigation box contained wet soil. |
